New Delhi: The registration numbers for the CMAT exam are dwindling for the past few years. The CMAT exam is for admission into MBA and PGDM courses across India. This year, the CMAT 2024 registration was open from March 29 to April 18, 2024.
Although there is no official data for the CMAT 2024 registrations yet. However, as per the number of past registrations for the CMAT exam, as compared to the CAT and XAT, there has not been any increase in the number of CMAT applicants. The registrations have been stagnant and even reduced by approximately 21% from 2021 to 2022

Delay in CMAT Exam Procedures Affect Students and Institutes
Over the past few years, NTA has been conducting the CMAT exam later in the year and never announcing the exam date along with the notification, thus causing stress amongst aspirants. For example, the CMAT 2022 was conducted on April 9, 2022, and the results were released on April 29, 2022.
Last year, the CMAT 2023 took place on May 4, 2023, and the result came out on May 31, 2023. The CMAT 2024 exam date is yet to be announced by the NTA, but the exam will tentatively take place in May 2024.
Other MBA entrance exams release their exam dates and other notifications well before the exam. The delay in announcing the date can also impact the preparation strategies of students. The NTA also has made changes in the CMAT exam in the past, and the changes are sometimes not reflected in their official notices. Due to the delay in registrations and the CMAT 2024 exam date, institutes like the Great Lakes Institute of Management Chennai and the Goa Institute of Management have changed their policies for the CMAT this year.
While the Great Lakes Institute of Management will accept CMAT 2024 scores if they are declared before the final deadline, the Goa Institute of Management has decided not to consider CMAT scores for admissions this year. Many other colleges offering MBA courses such as K J Somaiya, Welingkar, IMT, and BIMTECH may opt for similar decisions with their admission processes closing in June or July 2024.
