NExT 2023

New Delhi: The National Medical Commission (NMC) recently issued an application notice on behalf of AIIMS Delhi for the National Exit Test (NExT) mock exam scheduled for July 28, 2023. The application fee for general/OBC applicants is INR 2000.

The concept of paying such exorbitant prices for a mock exam has been opposed by many medical professionals and students. The test-simulation fee has now been asked by the health ministry to be waived by NMC.

According to Edex Live, discussions have started at NMC to consider reducing the fees for the mock NExT test being administered to the 2019 class of final-year MBBS students.

The goal of the practice exam is to familiarise prospective candidates with the computer-based test, software interface and testing centre workflow.

The 2019 class's final-year MBBS students will take the NExT Exam in two phases the following year. Only the structure and format of NExT Step 1 will be demonstrated by the sample questions in the NExT mock or practise test.

Foreign medical graduates (FMGs) must first pass NExT Step 1, do an internship, and then pass NExT Step 2 in order to practise medicine in India.

The impending NExT exam is being opposed across the country, and the hashtag #NONEXTFOR2019BATCH on Twitter is being used to draw attention to the problem. Different doctors from Government Medical Colleges all throughout the nation are criticising the exam.

"The 2019 batch's students must take the NEXT exam, according to NMC. Students studied according to the old test pattern for the first 3.5 years of MBBS, and now they are abruptly obliged to take an exam with a completely new format," according to a tweet from the All India Students Union (AISU).
