NEET PG hearing occurred on August 9, 2024, at the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court heard the plea seeking postponement of the NEET PG. The exam is to be scheduled on August 11, 2024. The reason behind the plea is that it is inconvenient to reach the cities allocated to candidates. On Thursday, the Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud and Justices Manoj Mishra and JB Pardiwala took note of lawyer Anis Tanwir’s submissions on this issue.

Cities were allocated on July 31 and the specific centres were declared on August 8. According to the petition, making arrangements to travel to the exam centres within this short time is inconvenient for candidates. Therefore, it would be better if the exam is postponed. The court has rejected the petition and the exam will be conducted on August 11 as decided earlier.

The exam was previously decided to be held on July 23, but the Union Health Ministry postponed it as a precautionary measure because of the irregularities of the NEET UG exam. Here is what NBE Chief Justice DY Chandrachud said

“As a matter of principle, we will not reschedule the exam. There are two lakh students and four lakh parents who will weep over the weekend if we postpone it. We cannot put the careers of so many candidates in jeopardy”, the Chief Justice stated.
