Poona College and IIT Bombay Collaborate to Organize NPTEL Awareness Online Workshop; Check Details Here

New Delhi: Poona College joined hands with the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Bombay to organize an NPTEL Awareness Online Workshop on August 14, 2023. The workshop was organized online and was live-streamed on YouTube. 

The collaboration between Poona College and IIT Bombay to organize an NPTEL Awareness Online Workshop portrays their commitment to democratizing education and bridging gaps in learning opportunities. The workshop was attended by the students and faculty members of Poona College. There were other participants who joined from across India.

Principal Prof. Dr. Aftab Anawar Shaikh inaugurated the program and also welcomed all the participants. He provided the course details, student strengths, and other important features. He also encouraged the staff and students to enroll in the MOOCs program available on SWAYAM/NPTEL to get certified which will help them in their career growth.

The key speaker of the workshop was Ms Nisha Takur from the IIT Bombay Faculty. She provided a detailed insight into NPTEL and “ How NPTEL is changing the landscape of Online Education in India.” She also talked about various features of NPTEL, such as its interactive lectures, video tutorials, doubt-solving sessions, types of certificates, grading system, Statistical details regarding a number of video lectures, enrollment, details of the local chapter, career opportunities, etc. She also provided various tips to make the most of NPTEL courses. 

Dr Shaikh Muhammad Zuber Director of the Knowledge Resource Centre who also is the SPOC of the NPTEL Local Chapter addressed the students about the significance of NPTEL courses, initiatives, performance, and enrolment statistics of the college Local Chapter. He also put forward the popularization technique by the local chapter for MOOC through an Induction program and library visit.

The question-answer session was very useful for clarifying all the doubts related to credit point transfer, multiple enrollment, career prospects, fee waivers, etc that were posted by students through live comments. Ms. Nisha effectively provided clarifications for all of them. The live event concluded with Dr. Muhammad Zuber delivering a vote of thanks.
