Shiv Nadar University Chennai Wins at IIT Madras Hackathon Winners Get Prizes worth INR 8 Lakhs

New Delhi: Shiv Nadar University Chennai students excelled in the Encryptocon Hackathon by IIT Madras. After a rigorous 24-hour challenge, competing against 300 teams and 900 participants, about seven teams of Shiv Nadar University participated at the IIT Madras hackathon and four of them made it to the top 6.

Encryptocon Hackathon was hosted by Shaastra, IIT Madras. The winners were “Team Krypton” consisting of third-year students from SNU Chennai. Adithya Vedhamani, Vishwa Kumaresh, L Archintya, and K Lohith Saradhi from Team Krypton won a Macbook Pro each.

The winning team focussed on the topic of “Behavior Analysis of Financial Fraudulent Transactions”, as per the digital age where more than 90% of banking fraud occurs online. To address the problem, SNU students developed a practical solution: a behavioral analytics SaaS system using ML (Machine Learning) for fraud detection. Reflecting the brilliance and creativity provided by the university.

Vice Chancellor Prof. S. K Bhattacharyya and Head of the Computer Science & Engineering Department SNU Faculty Dr. T Nagarajan appreciated the students for their achievements, encouraging its students to solve problems innovatively.

Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras students hosted the Shaastra Fest, an annual techno-entertainment festival from January 3 to January 7, 2024. This year IIT Madras hosted the 25th edition of Shaastra. The event witnessed various cutting-edge tech events focusing on AI, ML, Robotics, and more.
