What is the actual placement scenario at DTU??

I’m part of the economics course, and I've seen that most placements come from startups offering roles in marketing, sales, finance, and data analysis. Companies like Bajaj and Byjus do visit, but I feel they can be a bit unpredictable with their responses. The highest package I heard of was 13 LPA, but it seems like only about 20-25% of us get placed. I’m focusing on higher studies myself, so I’m hoping for a good MBA experience after this.

Almost all companies visiting the campus for software developer roles consider candidates from CSE, IT, SE, and MCE branches. So, if you secure a spot in any of these branches at DTU, there's a 95% chance you'll land a job, provided you don’t have backlogs and can clear the necessary requirements.

Just aim for an aggregate of 70%+ in your first six semesters, and having even a basic understanding of coding can help you secure a job with a salary of around 5 to 6 LPA. If you're aiming for a higher salary, you'll need to put in significant effort to enhance your coding skills.

Course-wise, over the four years, 80% of what COE and IT students study is identical, including most core subjects. So, it doesn’t really make a significant difference.

Students from DTU IT in 2014 secured placements at top companies like Google, Epic, Amazon, Citibank, Infoedge (Naukri.com), and Goldman Sachs, among others. So, the results speak for themselves! :)

Regarding the coding culture, it’s a personal choice. In recent batches, the top 10 out of the 15 best coders were from IT.

Regarding branch changes, it depends on your AIEEE rank, and the final upgraded list is released around the 2nd semester. That’s when you can hope to switch branches unless you have frozen your current one.
