When it comes to campus life, DTU offers a vibrant and supportive environment with a rich array of extracurricular activities, while Jadavpur University has a strong reputation for its academic rigor, especially in Electrical Engineering. The faculty at DTU is approachable, though the curriculum could use some updates to better align with industry needs, similar to what students at Jadavpur University experience. Both colleges have decent placement rates, but DTU seems to have an edge with more companies visiting for recruitment. If you’re looking for a lively campus atmosphere and tech opportunities, DTU B.Tech Environmental Engineering might be the better fit, while if you're more inclined towards a solid technical foundation in Electrical Engineering, Jadavpur University could be the way to go.

If you're leaning towards the electronics field, then EE at DTU is the way to go. If coding excites you, CSE is a solid choice. However, there's a rapidly growing field in data science, AI, and ML, which offers numerous job opportunities and higher salaries. If you're interested in this area, consider CS. That said, even if you choose EE, you can still become a data scientist.

So, here's the bottom line: whatever you decide, make sure you're serious about CODING and MATH (Statistics). In terms of brand and placement, DTU has the edge. The choice is yours!

Considering fees and ROI, Jadavpur University for BE Electrical Engineering might give you a better financial outcome compared to DTU's B.Tech in Environmental Engineering. Jadavpur's fee structure is generally more affordable, and it has a strong placement record, especially in core engineering fields like electrical, which can lead to higher starting salaries. Though DTU offers good scholarships and decent placements, the high fees and the current recession affecting internships can make it a riskier investment.

So, if you're looking for better value for money, Jadavpur University is the smarter choice, but if you have a strong passion for environmental engineering and can manage the costs, DTU still offers a vibrant campus life and good tech opportunities.

I am a student in the Information Technology department at Jadavpur University. Last year, students faced a similar dilemma: whether to join IT or Electrical Engineering.

Here are some points to consider:

  • Placement Records: In recent years, IT has had an excellent placement record, but there's no guarantee it will stay that way in the future.
  • Department History: Electrical Engineering is one of the oldest engineering departments at JU, while IT was established around the year 2000.
  • Faculty Quality: Electrical Engineering has a very strong faculty. IT also has good faculty, but the number of teachers is significantly lower compared to Electrical or CSE.

Ultimately, the choice of branch should be based on your passion. I love programming, which is why I chose IT over Electrical Engineering.

Choose your branch wisely! Don't base your decision solely on placement statistics.

In my view, Jadavpur University’s BE in Electrical Engineering generally offers better job prospects compared to DTU’s B.Tech in Environmental Engineering. Jadavpur has a solid reputation for its electrical program, leading to good placements with many companies actively recruiting. While DTU does have decent placement rates and a variety of companies visiting, the internship opportunities, especially in core branches, seem limited right now, which could impact real-world experience. If you’re aiming for a strong career in a technical field, Jadavpur University might be the safer bet, especially given its established network in the industry.

However, if you're passionate about environmental engineering and willing to carve your own path, DTU can still provide valuable opportunities, but you'll need to be proactive.
