I recommend opting for MCE at DTU if you're focused on tech placements. Here’s why:

  • CSB and CSSS are relatively new branches.
  • Many companies have not allowed students from these two branches to sit for interviews.
  • In some cases, even ECE students were allowed while CSB and CSSS students were not.

If you’re leaning towards research in computer science, consider IIIT Delhi.

I would recommend opting for Mathematics and Computing at DTU.

The primary reason is that many companies may not allow students from CS and Social Sciences or CS and Biosciences to sit for internships and placements alongside CS students. However, this is rarely the case for Mathematics and Computing students. Almost all companies will permit you to sit for internship and placement tests with CS students if you are in Mathematics and Computing.

It's important to note that this isn't to say that CS and Social Sciences or CS and Biosciences at IIIT-D are poor in terms of internships or placements. But based on available information, Mathematics and Computing at DTU seems to have an edge over those options.

Secondly, Mathematics is directly related to Computer Science, whereas social science and bioscience are not. If you have a strong interest in Bioscience or Social Science and want to explore it or dive deep into research, then choosing one of those branches could be a good choice. However, in my opinion, B.Tech is too early to specialize, as it's difficult to be certain about your interests even before starting college.

I think Jadavpur University’s BE in Computer Science and Engineering offers a more robust pathway for placements compared to DTU’s B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing. While both colleges have strong internship opportunities, Jadavpur has a higher success rate with companies like Adobe offering significant stipends, and a better overall placement history for tech branches. DTU does have impressive companies visiting for campus placements, but the cutoff CGPA for good placements can be a hurdle. If you’re looking for a more straightforward route into tech jobs and better placement prospects, Jadavpur University might be the way to go. However, if you're really into mathematics and enjoy a challenging curriculum, DTU could still be a great fit.

In my research, I found that DTU's B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing offers a solid curriculum with a strong focus on real-world applications, which is great for future tech jobs. The campus life seems vibrant with active societies and significant internship opportunities, even attracting big names like Google and Microsoft. Jadavpur University's BE in Computer Science and Engineering also has a robust program, especially for those excelling in CGPA, but it feels a bit more competitive regarding placements.

While both colleges have similar fee structures and good scholarship options, I personally lean towards DTU for its dynamic campus life and broader internship opportunities, making it a better pick for someone looking to engage in both academics and extracurriculars. If you’re more into a competitive academic atmosphere, Jadavpur could suit you just fine.

Choosing between DTU B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing and Jadavpur University BE in Computer Science and Engineering really depends on your interests. If the stream matters more to you than the institute, then go for what excites you.

However, if the institute is a priority, consider what aligns best with your goals. I'm not entirely sure about DTU for this particular stream, but I can share some insights about Jadavpur University.

  • Placements for Computer Science and Engineering are quite good.
  • The same goes for Electronics and Communication Engineering.
  • Chemical Engineering is also worth considering.

That said, be aware that in the next few years, mass recruiting companies might dominate the placement scene, especially since the cut-off ranks have been disappointing recently, which has affected the quality of students.

Teaching quality can vary, often depending on the individual professors. Overall, the environment is vibrant, with plenty of fests and activities happening throughout the year.

Make sure to gather more information about both institutions before making your decision. You seem like a strong student! All the best! :)
