I am an Engineering Physics student at DTU, and I believe that pursuing Engineering Physics at DTU is far better than Information Technology at IGDTUW. Here’s why:

  • Opportunities: The opportunities at DTU are tremendous! There are endless societies where you can pursue your interests.
  • Course Structure: The full course name is Engineering Physics with a major in Electronics. If you are passionate about electronics, this branch aligns perfectly with that interest.
  • Comparison: There is literally no comparison between IGDTUW and DTU.

So, I strongly suggest you choose DTU for Engineering Physics without a second thought!

CAUTION: A BIG ANSWER AHEAD! Look, don’t fall into the trap. Don’t choose EP blindly. Let me guide you a bit. First of all, what is your interest? If you don’t know much about engineering, let me explain the difference between these two branches.

EP at DTU: The course curriculum is great (but the teaching is poor). The EP curriculum was designed to help you adapt to current technologies (mostly related to Electronics) and to familiarize you with emerging technologies like nanotechnology (you should definitely look that up), quantum computing, etc. Unfortunately, the implementation of this curriculum is poorly executed. The ECE department sends their least qualified faculty (many are just M.Tech students themselves, so they have weak fundamentals). In the Physics part, teachers focus more on derivations than on concepts.

PROS of EP at DTU:

  • DTU tag
  • Can easily secure a NON-TECH job
  • With some hard work in coding, you can land a coding job

CONS of EP:

  • If you’re really interested in physics, this is not the place.
  • If you’re only interested in a non-tech job, why endure the challenges of EP?

DTU's B.Tech in Engineering Physics offers impressive placement opportunities, with top companies like Google and Microsoft recruiting on campus and an average package of 16L for 2025. Internships are abundant, with stipends ranging from 30k to 1L per month, and the campus life is vibrant with numerous events. In contrast, IGDTUW's B.Tech in Information Technology might not have as strong a placement record or internship support, which could limit job prospects. If you’re aiming for high-paying tech roles and an engaging campus experience, DTU is the better choice, while IGDTUW could suit those looking for a more specialized IT path with potentially less competitive pressure.

I would personally lean towards B.Tech Engineering Physics in DTU over B.Tech Information Technology in IGDTUW. DTU offers a vibrant campus life with tons of activities, fests, and societies that make the overall experience enjoyable and fulfilling. The faculty is highly regarded, and the curriculum, especially with its focus on real-life applications like VLSI and semiconductor manufacturing, prepares you well for industry demands. In contrast, while IGDTUW has its strengths, especially in IT, it doesn't seem to match the same level of placement opportunities and campus culture that DTU boasts. If you want a mix of fun, solid academic grounding, and excellent placement chances, DTU is definitely the better choice.

I think if you're looking for a better return on investment, B.Tech Engineering Physics at DTU is the way to go. With a total fee of around 11 lakhs over four years and an impressive average placement package of 16 lakhs, the ROI is quite appealing. In contrast, while B.Tech Information Technology at IGDTUW offers solid opportunities, the specifics on placements and fees aren't as strong. Additionally, DTU has a vibrant campus life and numerous internship opportunities that can further enhance your experience and prospects. So, if you want a well-rounded college experience with great job prospects, go for DTU; if you prefer a more niche field with less emphasis on campus life, IGDTUW could be your pick.
