If you're from Delhi, definitely go for DTU! You’ll benefit from 85% reservation there.

  • The Electrical Engineering department at DTU is one of the oldest and best in the college.
  • There's great research work happening.
  • Placement opportunities are excellent!
  • Students often receive top offers from leading companies in India, with impressive salary packages.

It's a solid choice!

DTU and MNNIT Allahabad both have solid offerings, but they cater to different student experiences. DTU’s vibrant campus life with events like Engifest stands out, alongside its high placement rates, including top companies like Google and Microsoft, which is pretty impressive. MNNIT, while also having a good faculty-to-student ratio and internship opportunities, focuses on a rigorous academic structure with placements starting from the 7th semester, and last year saw about 80% placement. If you value a lively campus and immediate job prospects post-5th semester, DTU would be my pick; however, if you’re leaning towards a more traditional academic path with plans for further studies, MNNIT could be the better fit.

I’m from Chennai and completed my B.Tech from MNNIT. Here are some things I think MNNIT offers for someone from a bigger city:

  • MNNIT, being an NIT, has students from every state, providing a chance to interact with a diverse group of people.
  • It’s a completely residential campus, which enhances this experience.
  • The hostels may not be of the best quality, but the friendships you build are invaluable. You learn to adjust and tolerate various situations.
  • Seniors are incredibly helpful; they more than make up for any shortcomings in teaching quality. If you think you’ll learn everything in the classroom, you’re mistaken. The syllabus for CSE is quite outdated in many colleges. You end up learning on your own and from peers.
  • You get opportunities to take on leadership roles. You can manage the Student Mess, be part of the placement committee, and participate in Computer Club classes, along with engaging in sports and cultural committees.

Allahabad may not compare to Delhi; we used to jokingly call it Hellahabad. However, you’ll realize that you leave a part of yourself in college and in Allahabad.

Both DTU and MNNIT Allahabad have their strengths, but when it comes to fees and return on investment, DTU seems to offer more value for money. While DTU has a higher placement rate with big companies like Google and Microsoft and an impressive highest package of 1.83 crores, MNNIT's placement stats are still building and haven’t been as established yet. DTU's annual fees might be steep, but the consistent campus placement opportunities and vibrant campus life, including the renowned Engifest, make it worthwhile. MNNIT offers solid internship opportunities, but if you’re primarily focused on finding a high-paying job post-graduation, DTU seems like the smarter financial choice. If you're more inclined towards research or further studies, MNNIT could be a fit, but for immediate job prospects, go for DTU.

Both DTU and MNNIT Allahabad have their strengths, but when it comes to placements and internships, DTU seems to hold an edge. DTU reports a 96% placement rate with top companies like Google and Microsoft, showcasing impressive packages, including one at 1.83 crores. In contrast, MNNIT's placement data is still evolving, with around 80% placement last year and companies like Apple and Google participating. While both colleges offer good internship opportunities, DTU's established reputation could lead to more lucrative options. If you want immediate job prospects post-B.Tech, DTU might be the better choice; however, if you're considering pursuing a master's later, MNNIT could still be a solid option given its strong academic environment.
