Should I go for B.Tech Chemical Engineering in MNNIT Allahabad or B.Tech Electrical and Electronics Engineering in NIT Warangal?

Going for B.Tech in Chemical Engineering at MNNIT Allahabad or Electrical and Electronics Engineering at NIT Warangal really depends on your financial situation and career goals. MNNIT's Chemical Engineering has decent fees, starting at around Rs. 62,000 per year, but the ROI can be low since core companies are limited, with only 8 out of 58 students getting internships. On the flip side, NIT Warangal's Electrical and Electronics Engineering typically attracts more tech companies and offers better internship opportunities, which can lead to higher placements and better overall returns, despite potentially higher fees. If you're leaning towards a more stable tech career, I'd recommend NIT Warangal for its stronger placement prospects, while MNNIT could be a good choice if you are passionate about chemical engineering and its related industries.

I had the same dilemma last year while applying for counseling through JoSAA. Here’s what I think:

• When it comes to placements, ECE is definitely better than Chemical Engineering.
• However, in terms of college reputation, NIT Warangal is superior to MNNIT Allahabad. NITW is a tier-1 college, comparable to IITs.

So, it really depends on whether you prioritize the branch or the college. Choose wisely! Personally, I would give preference to the college.

For example, some students opt for IIT Bombay in the Chemical branch even when they have opportunities in other IITs with IT-related branches.

If you’re considering the Mechanical branch here, there’s a good chance you could get into Electrical and Electronics as well. So, make your decision carefully!

MNNIT Allahabad offers a decent B.Tech in Chemical Engineering with a solid curriculum focused on core subjects, but it lacks practical exposure and has limited internship opportunities in tech. In contrast, NIT Warangal’s B.Tech in Electrical and Electronics Engineering is highly respected, with stronger placement rates and a more robust campus life full of events and activities. While MNNIT has a beautiful campus and offers a good foundation in chemical engineering, I’d personally lean towards NIT Warangal for its better placement prospects and vibrant student life. If you're passionate about electrical engineering and want more job opportunities, go for NIT Warangal; if you love chemical engineering and research, MNNIT can still be a good choice, but be prepared for a more challenging internship landscape.

Considering the current scenario, your top choice should be CSE at MNNIT Allahabad. It’s one of the older NITs and holds a strong reputation across India. Next in line is NIT Warangal for ECE. It ranks among the top 3 NITs, but since you have the option of CSE at another reputable NIT, that should take precedence over NIT Warangal ECE. The last option would be JU EE. While JU is a prestigious college in India, its strength primarily lies in its CSE department. Other departments are also good, but CSE at a highly ranked NIT offers better placements and future prospects overall. Ultimately, the decision is yours. Choose wisely!

I would recommend you join EEE at NIT Warangal! ECE at MNNIT may not be the best choice due to:

• Lack of quality faculty in ECE. It has some of the weakest faculty among all branches.
• Many laboratories are outdated and in poor condition. Half of the instruments don’t work.
• If you’re looking for a core ECE job, MNNIT might not be ideal. Most ECE graduates end up in IT jobs (due to better pay and fewer core opportunities).
• Very few core companies visit the campus, so you need to be exceptionally smart to make the most of the limited opportunities available.

Also, remember that EEE stands for Electrical & Electronics Engineering!
