IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Civil Engineering offers a significantly lower tuition fee compared to IIT Bombay's B.Tech in Computer Science, which typically ranges much higher. While IIT Delhi students can expect a total cost of around 4-5 lakhs due to tuition exemptions, IIT Bombay's costs can soar to 12-13 lakhs. In terms of placements, IIT Bombay's Computer Science program has the edge with top tech giants and higher salary packages, making it a better ROI for students aiming for lucrative careers in tech. If you’re passionate about civil engineering and want a cost-effective education, IIT Delhi is a great choice. However, if you're inclined towards a high-paying tech career and can manage the higher fees, IIT Bombay is likely the smarter financial investment.

IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Civil Engineering and IIT Bombay's B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering offer vastly different placement scenarios. While IIT Delhi sees a decent placement rate with around 70% of civil engineering students securing jobs, the tech giants and consultancy firms flock to IIT Bombay for computer science, often resulting in significantly higher packages, with the highest reported reaching 2.65 crore. The internship opportunities at IIT Delhi are solid, but IIT Bombay's tech focus provides a wider array of internships at leading tech firms, giving CS students an edge in both practical experience and job prospects.

For those passionate about civil engineering and possibly pursuing UPSC, IIT Delhi is a great fit. However, if you aim for lucrative tech jobs and want to tap into the booming IT sector, IIT Bombay is the clear winner.

IIT Delhi's B.Tech Civil Engineering offers a solid faculty and curriculum focused on self-learning, but the placement statistics can’t match those of IIT Bombay's B.Tech Computer Science Engineering, which attracts top tech companies like Google and Amazon, resulting in higher packages and placement rates. Campus life at IIT Delhi has a vibrant student culture with great facilities, but IIT Bombay's tech scene is more dynamic, especially for computer science students. Personally, if you're leaning towards tech and want a booming career, IIT Bombay is the way to go, while IIT Delhi is more suited for those passionate about civil engineering and its related fields.

IIT Bombay is the better choice. Though I’m not in CS, here are a few points:

  • You’ll have the opportunity to learn from some of the best professors in India.
  • The professors are cool! One even tried to prank the entire class on April 1st!
  • Great placements! You can land good jobs at both Delhi and Bombay. Even if you have a 6-pointer, you’ll still get a job with a CTC higher than the topper in Mech!
  • (This point isn’t about CS) The culture at IIT Bombay is fantastic. You’ll definitely have a great time compared to any other IIT.
  • You can secure excellent recommendations from professors if you’re considering a Master’s or PhD.

I can’t provide more academic insights, but seriously! The combination of IIT Bombay and CS is unbeatable! Go for it!

If you're looking for a brand, choose IIT Bombay. But if you prefer logic, go for IIT Delhi. Right now, it's the top IIT and the best engineering college in India.

If I had to pick between the two, I would definitely choose IIT Bombay!
