How do the placements really compare between IIT Delhi B.Tech Civil Engineering and IIT Bombay B.Tech Electrical Engineering?

In my opinion, IIT Delhi's Electrical Engineering (Power) is the better choice if your long-term goal is a solid job. Contrary to popular belief, there isn't a boom in Civil Engineering right now.

However, keep in mind that Electrical Engineering (Power) is a very challenging branch!

IIT Delhi’s B.Tech in Civil Engineering and IIT Bombay’s B.Tech in Electrical Engineering both have strong placements, but IIT Bombay tends to have the edge, especially in tech fields. IIT Bombay attracts top tech giants like Google and Amazon, offering higher packages, with the highest reported package reaching around 2.65 crores, similar to IIT Delhi. However, since Electrical Engineering is more in demand, graduates from IIT Bombay generally see better job prospects and a wider range of internship opportunities. If you’re passionate about civil engineering and want a solid education, choose IIT Delhi; but if you're leaning towards a lucrative tech career, IIT Bombay is the way to go.

Electrical (Power) at IIT Delhi is a fascinating branch with great people. From a job perspective, Electrical is definitely a better option than Civil. However, if you find Civil truly interesting and want to pursue it, then go for it!

Also, if you're considering civil services in the future, Civil Engineering might be a better choice since it can be easier compared to Electrical, allowing you more time for preparation.

But if I were in your position, I would choose Electrical (Power) at IIT Delhi.

Personally, I would lean towards IIT Bombay for the Electrical Engineering program if you prioritize placements and a dynamic campus life; however, if you're passionate about Civil Engineering and value strong faculty interaction, IIT Delhi is still a fantastic choice.

IIT Bombay's electrical engineering program is also strong, but the financial burden can be heavier. If you want a great education without breaking the bank, IIT Delhi is the smarter financial choice. However, if you're set on electrical engineering and can manage the costs, IIT Bombay is still a prestigious option.
