Positives: Good faculty, Freedom, 5 day week college, Good infrastructure. Bright students. Reasonably good placements. Negatives: Geography, Placements for core branches. Restrictions for girl hostel dwellers.

Course curriculum is to the point and is accepted widely, which makes it easy for students who want to pursue higher education abroad. Exam pattern in NIT Calicut is as below 2 mid exams (T1 and T2) each carries 20 marks, 10 marks for assignments, surprise tests based on faculty making internals 50 marks. End semester exam carries 50 marks.

Placements and training cell is very orgarnised and HOD of TNP department has been there since long time making it easy for institute to contact companies for placements. But due to the geography of Calicut which is not close to any of the metropolitan cities placements are comparably less. Any student pursuing Computers would not have much problem in placements but Core branches will face tough time in getting good offer.

NITC have around 100 cultural and technical clubs. All the festivals celebrated across country are celebrated by those state groups. Apart from these NITC conducts 1 tech festival in November and 1 cultural festival in March. These festivals are considered biggest in institutes across state and students from whole country participate in these festivals.

There are no scholarships or loans offered particularly by college. But It helps with all the documentation required for availing educational loan. There is an SBI branch inside the campus making it easier for students opting to avail loan. Apart from these there are scholarships for socially backward class people.

Lab facilities are ordinary compared to other national level institutes but certain budget shall be sanctioned based on requirements. Extra curricular activities opportunities for people interested are ample and there are high class playgrounds and stadiums for various sports activities and inter NIT sports competitions are held every year.

Hostel facilities were reasonably good and all new mega hostels will make life far better for new students. To make it comfortable for students from other states there are various state authentic mess in different hostels.

As of now there is not a very helpful alumni network is available on social platforms. But alumni meets are conducted regularly about which very less information is available with people. There is an official 25 year alumni meet conducted by college for which invites would be sent.

Have given AIEEE(entrance exam for NITs and IIITs) and got All india rank of 11k and gone through counselling process in which I got seat in NIT Calicut in civil engineering in 5th round of counselling.

Faculty are vastly experienced and have both theoretical and practical experience in the subjects they handle and are very helpful and maintain good camraderie with students. They have very good contacts with faculty across the best institutes in country helping students to share their ideas regarding their projects with faculty of other prominent institutes as well.
