Remarks
Positive points are Large campus, good faculties, good buildings, good placements, good curriculum, great fests. Negative points are not too beautiful campus, not much freedom during first years, assignments and projects will be a burden.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is good. It is not only theoretical based but it includes practicals too. Which is the most important part in life of an engineer. Exam structure is like writing each and every points and steps. Mostly it is subjective.
Placement Experience
Our college has a great placement statistic. Last year our college's highest package was around 50 lacs and most of the students were placed. Therefore our college has great job opportunities. Internships are usually not provide by our college.
College Events
The two main events celebrated in our college are TATHVA and RAGAM. Tathva is South India's second largest Tech fest and Ragam is South India's biggest cultural fest. World famous DJs usually come at these eves in our colleges. Tathva includes many tech programmes such as Robo war and moto show.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure is little expensive. It is almost 1.25 lac per annum but government has a policy base on income of student's family. If a student falls under below 1 lac income category he doesn't need to pay any tuition fee. If a student fall between 1 and 5 lac income he only need yo pay 1/3 of tuition fees.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are different scholarship available for student. 2 of them are the national scholarship portal and E grantz. NSP is given by the Central government and egrantz by state government. About Rs 30000 is obtained through these scholarship. SBI offers many loans too.
Campus Life
Extra Curricular activities are very good because physical education,national service scheme, yoga etc. are compulsory courses here. Labs and workshops are also very good. Most of the labs are modified to modern technologies and workshops are also like that.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel building is little old but it is good. Bathrooms and toilets are very good. In first year there will be four person in one room but room is nice and sweet. Fans and lights will be provided. Mess food is also good. Fees is around 4500 Rs including mess fee.
Alumni/Alumna
Alumni network is great at NIT Calicut. Most of them are working in big MNCs with high salary packages or they are serving the country as a civil service officer. Seniors are also very helpful. They make us know about all events and clubs in colleges. A little ragging will be faced at first but it is good to be friends at a later stage.
Admission
Attended JEE main exam and I got a good rank and therefore I was alloted this college.Admission was done by jossa. Which is an authority for giving admissions to NITs, IITs, IIITs and GFTIs. It consider marks of JEE main and JEE advanced exam.
Faculty
The faculty in our college is very good. They are very much committed to their job and they teach students in the best way that they can. Class tests are also conducted regularly so that students can know about their continuos perfomance. Most of the faculties done their PhD either from IITs or from good foreign universities.
