Remarks
All in all, I love my college. It has everything I would need to go forward in my life. The seniors guide us well for us to know what to do next. The infrastructure provided by the college is always there to help us with our studies. The only issue I would say is the location of our college. Since it's in a town in Assam, few companies never come here for recruitment, if they would've then NIT Silchar would've been one of the most highest package placement college in India.
Course Curriculum Overview
Till now, all the course material we have seem pretty standard, nothing seems advanced nor out of date. Though like everytime, we have to work ourselves when it comes to knowing more, like competitive coding etc.
Placement Experience
The college placement scenario is pretty nice when it comes to our branch (CSE) and ECE, but some other branches can suffer a little bit provided the year. When the PSUs come, the placement is very nice for the core branches.
College Events
When it comes to festivals like Diwali, Holi etc. All are celebrated with excitement. Our college has 2 main events: Tecnoesis, our tech fest and Incandesence, our cultural fest. These 2 are some of the biggest fests in North East India. All the students help with the preparations, participate and enjoy it wholeheartedly. We also have another cultural fest called Posua which is for the Assamese people in the institution where they can enjoy their own Bihu.
Fees and Financial Aid
When I got into the college, I recieved scholarship from Tribal affairs which I applied through NSP (National Scholarship Portal). The college helps you with whatever scholarship you can avail. But however I don't know of any provided by college itself.
Campus Life
There are many courts and grounds for different sports which include, basketball, football, cricket, tennis and indoor courts for table tennis, badminton, board games etc. There is also gym which can be used by anyone.
Hostel Facilities
We are all provided with decent rooms, all having table, chair and cupboard for each student with lan ports. The internet provided is very fast, giving us speeds up to 30 MB/s. The food given in the mess nice. Obviously not very fancy. We are given choice of having non veg or veg in dinner, and are given specials on Sundays. The hostel supervisors are quick when it comes to repairing something or if there are any other issues.
Alumni/Alumna
The student-senior relationship is very strong in our college. There is no rule of calling our seniors sir or ma'am. There is nothing that can be called ragging in our college. Everyone knows what's acceptable and what's not. The seniors help their juniors in every step, we even provided classes to juniors ourselves for some extra learning and help.
Admission
First of all, obviously we had to clear JEE mains. After we got the result, we had to select our preferred colleges and the corresponding branches we are more interested in. After an initial round of selection, we got to know whether or not we got what we preferred, then we had to visit one of the given colleges for locking our choices. Then after we confirmed our seats, we visited our college and took our final admission.
Faculty
The faculty is in my opinion pretty average, all the professors we have got till date, teach decent and if you listen to them with full concentration, you should understand all things, but that's the tough part since most don't make it interesting enough.
