College Review - NIT Patna

Positive - Sports is being encouraged and one has variety of sports to choose from. This has resulted in not only improvement in physical strength but also has improved academics of students. Negative - Small campus size is major drawback of NIT Patna. Also the administration of NITP works slowly which sometimes is very irritating.

Course curriculum is based on the guidelines of MHRD. Course structure is very good and puts emphasis on practical development rather than only theoritical learning. Exam structure includes one internal examination or Mid Sem and one End Sem exams per semester.

NITP registered almost 97% placement last year with an average package close to 8 lpa. This year the average packayos expected to touch 10 lpa mark. Highest package includes Adobe (41 lpa) and Amazon (28.5 lpa).

NITP celebrates it's annual Technical and Cultural fest - Corona and Melange in January each year. Other fest includes Departmental cultural fest Eccentrica and departmental sports fest Intramurals. Anuual Sports fest - Dangal is also celebrated each year in the month of March.

Fee structure is based on the guidelines set up by MHRD for NITs. Currently the fee structure includes tuition fee waiver for economically backwards and SC/ST categories which includes upto 100% or upto 66% fee waiver.

There are different scholarship offered by NITP for students belonging to backward categories. However I have not availed any of those scholarships. Also NITP offers scholarships for post graduation entrance exams like GATE so that maximum participation take place.

NITP has Student Activity Center which has sports like cricket, football, table tennis, Volleyball, kabaddi, badminton, squash, pool, basketball, etc. Laboratories includes all the latest equipments and gadgets that is required.

NITP's main boys hostel is Brahmaputra Hostel. An engineering marvel having 12 floors. This hostel has capacity to have over 1100 students. There are separate hostels for freshers and post graduate students. All these hostels are newly constructed and has all basic equipments.

Alumni network includes Nitish Kumar - Bihar Chief Minister. Senior students are really helpful especially during the placement season as their experience does help a lot to crack interviews. Also NITP celebrates Alumni Meet annually to strengthen the Alumni network.

JEE MAINS - Admission is NITP is through rank obtained in JEE Mains examination. For general category one must have rank within 25k to get admission in some branch at NIT PATNA. After obtaining AIR one must go through JOSSA for counseling to obtain seats in different courses.

Faculty of NIT PATNA are very highly qualified and has high experience. They are understanding and always tend to be helpful. Faculties have a very good grasp of the respective subjects they teach. This makes it easier for the students to understand the depths of the subject.
