Remarks

The curriculum based education in the college is very well delivered. But when it comes to infrastructure, extracurricular activities, sports, scholarships and even placements the college does very little to help. A lot of students go to great places from our college but I believe they themselves work hard and the faculty helps a little but the college authority does nothing.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course was based in semesters twice a year. The first year was General education. Then from the second year we move on to our subjects. But still there are a lot of subjects in our curriculum which are totally unnecessary in my opinion. We had two, sometimes three internal exams, the average marks of which were added to the semester marks. The curriculum, in my opinion, is a lot outdated and far from what is useful in field.

Placement Experience

2.5

Placement and Job opportunities are not good for the core streams. The computer and electronics students receive almost 70% placement while in Civil it's barely 30%. The college placement cell does keep us informed about off campus jobs and pool campusing even after the course is over. College does not provide internship. They suggest some. Or else students have to find their own internships. The college does help with letters in securing the internships but that's all. The college is privately funded and Stipend is not provided in our college. My personal overall experience with placement is unsatisfactory. Most of us had to find our own jobs and the college was of no help.

College Events

1.5

There were a lot of events. Our main events were the cultural and technical fest. The cultural fest was celebrated in a big way with sponsorships and celebrity performances being main events along with students from different colleges taking part in different activities offered. The technical fest also was open to everyone for participation. Events like robotics, gaming etc. are organised and people come from different places to participate and win prizes. We also organised freshers for newcomers. Sadly we did not get any freshers for some reason but freshers were regularly organised. Events like Saraswati Puja and Kartik Puja are aslo celebrated.

Fee Structure And Facilities

Fee Structure was on the expensive side. We were charged almost ?40000 per semester. And regarding we were not helped at all with placement I would say it a a bit too much. There was options for half or full pay waiver but one can oly apply for it at the start and never after that.

Fees and Financial Aid

The only scholarship offered by the college was half/full pay waiver depending on the family income of the student at the beginning of the course. Ona cannot avail this after the first semester. Students had to manage their own scholarships. The college takes Government and private scholarship applications and passes them on to the concerned authority after student verification. But they don't offer any loan or scholarship.

Campus Life

2.5

Extracurricular activities were not so kuch encouraged. The computer and electronics departments had their robotics club. But in our civil engineering we had nothing of that sort. A cricket and a football tournament were organised once a year. These were very interesting as we had this auction system where designated owners had to but teams and players with a small amount of money which was added to organising funds. That made the sports part very interesting. The college did not help much. It was completely a student affair. Laboratories are very well stocked. No necessary equipment was missing.

Hostel Facilities

1.5

Hostel facility was not available in Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology. We had to stay in a private hostel nearby the campus and it was not so good. We had to walk a kilometre for food as the canteen and hostel were at different places. The college also did not have a canteen until 2014. Infrastructure is very poor in my opinion.

Alumni/Alumna

There is no prominent alumni network or so. But seniors are very easily contactable and helpful in job seeking and any other advice necessary. A lot of them are like elder brothers, especially the ones form the hostel.

Admission

I secured a WBJEE rank of 4993 and was looking for a decent college for an engineering degree. As I was interested in a core subject seniors suggested me to take Civil Engineering and I heard about our college. I went to the counselling and chose Meghnad Saha Institute of Technology. Then I was called to Techno Main Office in Salt Lake for admission. Classes started around August 2011.

Faculty

4.5

The faculty does a great job of conferring the curriculum. There are a few who struggle. But most of the faculty are friendly and do a great job of teaching. They encourage to attempt for more than just the curriculum and also help when required.

Placement Experience:

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
