PVG's COET - My College

The campus can be maintained to be a bit cleaner, mostly in the college buildings. The surroundings are filled with trees which make the overall climate suitable for students. The administration staff is very cooperative and helpful.

The course curriculum of the Computer Engineering department laid down by the Savitribai Phule Pune University is lagging behind the industry standards. The university is not considering what the industry demands from fresh engineers. The exam structure is as follows - 30 marks insemester in between the semester and practicals (50 marks) and theory paper(100) at the end of the semester. (Along with termwork - 50 marks)

Our college has one of the top quality placements in the city. Computer Engineering students get placed at packages as high as 22LPA. 74% of Computer Engineering students are placed this year. Our major recruiters include Schlumberger, Mu-sigma, HSBC, etc.

Every separate department has its own event. I, being in the computer department, have our event 'AlgoRhythym' which consists of various technical, non-technical and cultural events. Other events like 'Techcraft', 'Dynamech' and 'Electrabuzz' are also conducted with great enthusiasm. Along with this, our college also hosts an annular gathering where students showcase their various talents and arts.

At par with other colleges. My fee is around 100,000? per year, which is the average fee in most of Pune's colleges. Our college being in a prime area, the fee is reasonable I think. The equipments and facilities which we are provided with need that kind of finance for sure.

I was not eligible for any type of scholarship, but the EBC scholarship is of very help to the students who come from the economically backward class. It provides them a chance to pursue good education with half of their college fees embursed by the government of Maharashtra.

Sports and cultural fests are given adequate importance. They encourage students to take part in extra-curricular activities as well. This helps in the overall growth and development of a student giving him/her a global perspective.

Seniors are very helpful. Alumni network is also available if one needs any kind of help in any field. There is a very informal and friendly relation between the juniors and seniors. Students take part in various competitions proactively.

I had appeared for the CET exam - Common Entrance Test by the Government of Maharashtra, which is of 200 marks. On the basis of this exam's merit, I got admission in this college. The college allocation process is called 'CAP' round - Centralized Admission Process' round.

The faculty has been declining in quality to be frank. Our college was known for its senior and experienced faculty. But almost everyone of them is retiring now. But the new faculty is also promising and full of knowledge.
