Entrance Preview

No Entrance was their for admission to B.A.(H) Applied Psychology in Bhim Rao Ambedkar College. In Delhi University, admissions to this course are just on the basis of percentage scored in class 12th BOARD Examination.I opted for this course because I am very much interested in studying Psychology and further make my career in the same.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The curriculum of this course is very interesting and knowledgeable. It comprises of different aspects and different fields in Psychology itself which include- General Psychology, Health Psychology, Life Span Development, Applied Psychology, Social Psychology, Applied Social Psychology, Psychometry, Abnormal Psychology, Counseling Psychology, Organizational Behavior, Community Psychology, Psychotherapy, Media Psychology, Bio-psychology, Cultural and Indigenous Psychology, and Understanding Human Resource and Practices.

Internships Opportunities

The internship opportunities are provided with the help of the teachers in the department and also by the college.Students have done internships in big organizations like NTPC- India, Indian Oil, NGO's Like NIDAAN and NAASVI, Hospitals like Moolchand Hospital (Delhi), Career Development centers like Jitin Chawla's Center for Career Development, and many more.I did an internship at Jitin Chawla's Center for Career Development and had a wonderful experience. It is an organization which guides and counsels students and/or people of any age group towards a better future by telling the the careers best suited for their personality, interests and aptitude. Counseling is done on the basis of the results of 3 tests administered- CIS (Interest Test), DBDA (Aptitude Test), MAPS (Personality Test).

Placement Experience

2

The placements and job opportunities provided are not really good. I Personally have less knowledge about this aspect.

College Events

3.5

Their are many festivals held in the college every year, like Annual Day, Sports Day, College Fest, Departmental Fests, College Freshers', Departmental Freshers', Good Governance Day, Etc.These are a huge celebration for the College students, although, they are not as big as the other colleges of Delhi University In North and South Campus. These may not be as big an event as those in other colleges but they are definitely a source of play and fun for the students of the college itself.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are a lot of scholarships for students belonging to the reserved categories- SC, ST, OBC.Since I don't belong to one, I don't have much knowledge about the same. Information regarding the scholarships is available at the Reception of the college.

Campus Life

4.5

The girl to boy ratio in the college does not very much. But there are still more boys in the college than girls. Sports faculty of the college is awesome with equal participation of girls as well. There is a Cultural Department also in the college which manages the Dance events, Singing events, etc.A separate society for dramatics has also been made up now. Also, students can participate in NCC, NSS, etc. if they wish to.There are Self Defense classes and workshops held for girls. For psychology, there are a lo of workshops held, in which well known people from India come and teach us things and give us more knowledge about the subject. In the college, workshops are held for social causes like saving the girl child, Safaai Aandolan, etc. are done.Workshops are also organized for making students aware of the different and latest ideas of India, like the Digital India campaign, and Makin India.

Hostel Facilities

3.5

There are no Hostels in the college.Students live in PG's (costing around 5-10 thousand per month) or some students even rent a home together and share the rent. (Around 10-15 thousand per month).

Alumni/Alumna

My experience with my seniors has been one of the best experiences of my college life. Our seniors have always supported us. They have always helped us in any way possible whenever we asked them for help. Be it for giving their notes or books or explaining to us any concepts that we did not understand, our seniors were always ready to help!I have learnt how to organize events, how to make good notes, how to study and understand things well, how to enhance my own personality and lead a better life, and a lot more from them.

Faculty

4.5

There are around 7-8 teachers in the faculty, all of them having immense knowledge of the subject. The faculty of Psychology in this college is very good. The teachers are highly qualified and show keen interest in teaching students.

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
