Remarks
Personally, I had the best time of my life in college, met the most amazing people and created memories for a lifetime. However, one thing I did not like about college was, here management/people are really slow and fear taking responsibility for their own students. For example, for the simplest things, they will make you run for the entire day, submit a bundle of documents for the smallest things. I remember when I had to collect NOC for the internship, they wasted so much time. I had to stay back in college for a couple of days after giving exams just to collect a document for which I had submitted everything a week in advance. But all in all, it was a very good experience.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is the latest and as per AICTE. The course in the first year is the same for all the departments and mostly comprises of the subjects which you have already studied in class 11th/12th. From the second year, you will get a different perspective and department-specific subjects would be there. Apart from the regular tests and assignments, you will have to work on live projects. There will be so many student chapters that would not only be for academic development but will also aim at the overall personality development of the student.
Placement Experience
Placements are quite relaxed, I mean if you are consistent, you will easily secure an internship. All you need to take care of is, do not flunk, maintain attendance, more than your assignments and tests, focus on projects that you work on. Projects play an important role in getting a job. I got a job in the 7th semester in an IT company from campus placement. Also, I had got two other interview calls, but the TPO department did not allow me to appear for those interviews because I had an offer already. It was an absurd policy though. But, our college really took special steps for placement preparation. They arranged aptitude classes and technical classes from the interview perspective. Initially, we hated going to those classes, but it helped us greatly.
College Events
We celebrated all small and big occasions you can think of, surprisingly, this time I heard they celebrated Valentine's day as well, don't really know how true is that, but if it's at all true, it's great. Apart from that, we have Avahan as the fresher's party and Youthopia as an annual three-day cultural fest around November, and this was the coolest and the most awaited time of the year, you get to dance every night and some famous DJs from India and abroad tune the music. You get to see some celebs as well. Also, we have an annual sports-fest Sphurti around March.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee is based on the course you choose, also fee depends on the type of admission you take. If you are a Uttarakhand resident you would get some rebate. Otherwise, you will pay full fee. Also, there is some scholarship based on your HSC marks. But, you pay a lot to the college. And the fee structure is revised every-year for the new batch. You will get a brochure containing the four-year fee structure which would follow, except for the hostel fee which is revised annually. Fee-breakdown is very transparent.
Fees and Financial Aid
No, I did not apply for any scholarship or loan. However, the college offered a scholarship to the meritorious students based on the HSC score/ JEE Mains score. Also, the branch toppers receive a certain amount of fee waiver on their tuition fee.
Campus Life
The campus life is really worth cherishing. You get to experience the 4 years which probably becomes the best days of your life. DIT University campus is literally in the lap of nature. If you are a nature lover, you would cherish the campus life. You get to live in the foothills of Mussoorie. If it gets hot for a couple of days, it rains the third day. It is that kind of place. You will feel safe on the campus. However, if you are an on-campus student, you will have to be on time inside the campus. For girls, it really strict. When I was in college, the in-time for girls was 6 pm. I think it is a bit relaxed now. But it's the safety of the student. It is majorly an engineering college, and you will see the number of boys and less number of girls. In my class, there were 14 girls and 46 boys. There is a kind of movie screening in hotels on the weekends. Whenever there is a cricket match, you experience the best camaraderie in the hostel. When 200 odd people cheer, it's all together with a different feeling. There are so many clubs and student societies that organize so many competitions both cultural and technical. And as far as robotics is concerned, the SPE organizes robo war, where students work day and night in the workshops to design the arena. And finally, it's a ragging free campus.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel fee is revised annually. I stayed in the hostel for all 4 years and I didn't have any complaints. The food was good, the laundry facilities were timely. And again, it all depends on how you perform academically. For instance, I mostly scored above 75%, so I usually got a single room. However, if the number of students who want the hostel is more, then the cut-off gets high. In girls hostel, cut off for single room is really high. So, right from the start, you need to score consistently in order to have a peaceful stay in the hostel. Other than that, you get all the basic amenities you can think of.
Alumni/Alumna
There is an alumni network on Linkedin. Also, there are city-specific groups and alumni meet also take place in college and in different cities too. The alumni network is always helpful for suggestions and referrals.
Admission
I registered for the counseling and the counseling took place in the month of June. There were two criteria for admission, one was JEE mains score. The college had set a cut of less than the actual one, for eg. if the cut off the year is 120, the college cut-off is around 80. So first preference was given to the people who had a good score in JEE mains. Then there was seat allotment according to HSC(12th) score. I got the admission based on my HSC score.
Faculty
Faculty members of our college are well qualified. Many of them are from top colleges and universities. However, one thing that I feel is sometimes the student-teacher ratio is not as proper. So, you need to work your way out to clear your doubts after class and due to the same reason, it so happens that sometimes, a teacher has to teach some other subject which might not be his area of expertise.
