IIT Roorkee review

Your branch will not define what you can do in future. Even in chemical engineering most of the students are placed in IT companies. Campus has many groups which in which you can learn about finance and management. 35 students has qualified Google summer of code last year which is highest by any institute in india. Campus has best coding culture in any indian institute.

Course curriculum is basically fluid mechanics , thermodynamics and chemical kinetics round and round in nearly every semester. Then we have 2 exams each semester mid term examination and end term examination. The grades then are allocated based on the relative performance of the students.

Placements and job opportunities are one of the best accoss india. The institute has a student body who tries to reach hr of different companies and call them to the campus for placements and internship. Generally first you have to give exams and qualify them to sit in interview.

We have a cultural festival Thomso which is well known in north India. Students from different institute come to participate in the events. We have a technical festival cognizance. We have a sports festival sangram also.

Fees is expensive for the students but scholarship is available based on the income which makes it feasible. Institute is 100000 and hostel and other fees is nearly 28000 for a semester. But in most cases 2/3 fees is waved by the scholarship.

MCM is the scholarship available for the students on the basis of income. Most of the students avail 2/3 fee waiver. Other scholarship are also provided by the alumni of the campus. but they are generally based on the interviews.

Campus provides one of the best sports facilities in india. Sports include badminton, cricket, football, hockey, lawn tennis, table tennis, basketball, squash, taekwondo, Athletics and many more. We have our gym and swimming pool. We have inter college tournaments. We also have good cultural groups including dramatic section, choreography section, music section, debating section and many more.

Hostels are very good. One will like the food in the beginning but slowly taste of food becomes bad. Hostels provide one of the fastest internet speed in india. In the first year of your study you have to stay in double sharing room. But after that single sharing room will be provided.

This is something that my Institute need to focus on. Our alumni association is working continuously but is not able to achieve good alumni network. Senior junior interaction is also very poor. Neighter senior nor junior try to contact each other for help.

Forst we have to qualify jee mains and then we are allowed to take jee advanced test. Admission is given only to students who qualify jee advanced. Both the papers have mcq questions. Jee mains is more about basic knowledge of subjects. But jee advanced is more on application of concepts.

Faculty is very experienced and well-known in there respective fields. But don't expect them to teach properly some teachers teaches very well but some don't. Most of the time you have to study the subject yourself. It will be best if you have someone with you always who can study and teach you. Grades do matter a lot so study properly.
