Remarks

Infrastructure is great, teachers are great, location is bad and therefore, the crowd is balanced between good and bad.

Course Curriculum Overview

3

Most of our curriculum is relevant. We touch almost the subjects of commerce with main focus on economics. Our subjects are somewhat between courses of BCom Hons and economics Hons. Finance, marketing, macro/micro, entrepreneurial subjects are the essence of business economics Hons.

Placement Experience

3

British Telecommunication, Tresvista, ISA were the ones which have come this year until now. The college was closed most of this semester due to riots and currently is closed due to COVID. There is a three-stage process of recruitment, Prelims(aptitude test), GD and PI. Different sessions/workshops are held year-round for preparation of GD/PI.

College Events

4

We have different department fests going on the entire year and a main cultural fest, named Chetna, is held in March every year. Two-days long fest has a budget of around 30 lakhs, with a footfall of 15000 students. Two celebs are usually invited, one Punjabi singer and one DJ.

Fee Structure And Facilities

While our fees is 10-15k more than most courses of DU, it is still quite feasible. We are charged an extra "Professional Fees" apart from the academic fees, which makes it 25000 in total. We pay our examination fees separately of around 1000-1500 bucks for each semester.

Fees and Financial Aid

I am not aware of this because the fees are already quite reasonable. There is still some compensation for the reserved students.

Campus Life

4.5

The gender ratio in my class is 10:1, yes, only 5 girls. But in the rest of the college, it is around 3:2. Students are of diverse race, ethnicities and economic statuses. There is not much diversity in sexual orientation though. Almost all sports are there at par with other DU colleges. Societies are also at par.

Alumni/Alumna

We do get occasional interactions with the alumni on conferences, which are held twice or thrice each semester. Annual alumni meet is also held every year.

Admission

In 2017, the break up of marks was 65% entrance and 35% merit-based. After the exam, the result came out in around in a week with the composite scores. A total of 11 lists were out one after another. In these lists, students were given their desired colleges and courses in the order of their preferences, which they gave while filling the form.

Faculty

4

We have a total of 7 department faculty apart from the ones of generic subjects. All of them are above 50 years old except one accounts teacher, who is in her 30s. Qualification of all the senior professors are PhD and the accounts teacher is Masters, this is mainly due to the fact that accounts are a subject which has recently gained fame and mainly the younger generation is going towards it.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

The curriculum was overall good and being a economics honours courses it was challenging at times. The course offers many things for students interms of their further academic pursuits or any placement they are looking for. Talking about the areas of improvement and teaching methods there are none. The exams of the respective subject are to happen. They take test 1 , test 2 and there is final exams.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Delhi College of Arts and Commerce - [DCAC], Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (History)
Reviewed on Oct 17, 2022(Enrolled 2020)

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
