The college with lucrative beauty

The positive point about IIT guwahati is that it is the beautiful campus all over India, good placement, better faculties, the various no. of clubs to join and learn different things, the new infrastructure, the laboratories etc. However the negative part is that the connectivity of guwahati city is not that much great,so some might face difficulty in reaching here like some of my friends do.

This course offer a various number of opportunities in various fields like structural engineering,transport engineering, environment engineering etc. B. tech programme of civil engineer is just a topography of various fields.

This year(2019) placement session was great. Nearly 500 students placed in just 1st 3 days of the placement session. Most of the companies are SDE based followed by analytics and AI, ML. average stipend was around 10lakhs per annum.

Alcheringa, the biggest cultural fest of northeast is organised by IIT guwahati every year( 31 jan to 2feb). And the 2nd one is Techniche, the annual technical fest of our college, Other fests are SPIRIT( annual sports fest), KRITI( inter hostel tech fest), SPARDHA( inter hostel sports fest), MANTHAN( inter hostel cult fest)

The average annual fees of b. tech program is around 3 lakh and if your family income in less than 5 lakh and. More than 1 lakh then its 2/3 of total and if u belong to reserved category (like SC,ST) then you'll get tution fee waived (which is around 1 lakh per semester).

There are many scholarship available here like IMS( awarded to the topper of each branch annually), McM ( for economically backwards students, few regional scholarships and also loans are provided withing the campus banks( canara bank,SBI bank, ICICI bank).

Various workshop are organised by PhD students monthy from different department, workshops in tech fests etc. Sport culture is quite good here. You may join any sport club you like, no need of pre requisition. I myself learned how to play hockey, table tennis here. However talking about culture societies and diversity, it is of like conservative like girls can't enter to boys hostel untill and unless they are subscribed to that particular hostel mess or stay at hostel reception. But they can't go to their room and same goes for girls hostel.

The hostel selection is done by administration randomly. When you join the college u may get any hostel. There are 3 girls hostels and 11 boys hostel. My hostel is of normal size having balcony to each room and every room is single room. While some hostels have rooms without balconies.

Alumni network is not so strong as compared to other IITs but at the same time not very bad at all. Our college organise lots of allumni talks, interaction and all frequently. Most of the students got job through alumni network and they also help in providing lots of recruiters during placement session.

First i cleared the jee mains then after that i secured the rank in JEE(advance) to get the admission here. Well i got the civil engineering branch on the basis of prefferance sorted by me on JoSAA(joint seat allocation authority).

Now talking about faculties, this is the point where thing matters. Few faculties are so experienced and some are not. Some just have the knowledge but lack the teaching methods and some don't have knowledge thoroughly but know how to teach. In the end faculties are great here.
