Remarks

SIT overall will always be in my good books. The fact that it is still new works in its favour as we can see it continually evolving. The management tries to do a lot of things differently, most of which work in our favour. Innovation is encouraged and ideas are supported. We even have an incubation cell under the SCEI to provide grants to college startups which is really exciting. I believe with time, SIT will definitely make it to the top of the list.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course is in alignment with almost every deemed engineering college guidelines. Except to our advantage, more focus is given on practical learning. Proof of which is a lab for almost every subject we have and an exam for the same lab subject. Also the faculty is encouraged to find new teaching methodologies and pursue doctorates while at the university.

Placement Experience

4.5

Being a reputable institute with a well-established name, the tech giants do come by for internships as well as placements. Some like Dell, Google, IBM, Amdocs is regular almost every year. This year for internships we saw Bajaj Finserv coming in along with IBM, Harman international and many other startups as well. These companies usually have a technical round followed by 2-3 other rounds to hire the right candidate.

College Events

5

Almost every semester we have 3 major fests. Reverb: The biggest and most celebrated of all, Reverb is the cultural fest of SIT. Various committees are made by the students and almost everything regarding the fest is finalised by these committees only. There's a great turnout of people from other colleges for the celebrity guests that the fest attracts. There's basketball, handball, volleyball, football, cricket, Kho-Kho, arm wrestling, tug of war, tennis, athletics etc.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It is definitely towards the expensive side of the scale but the amenities, infrastructure, flexibility is given to students and the mentorship from faculties make up a huge part of it. The experience towards the end of the course is satisfying. It also makes sure only students who are serious with their academics continue with their education.

Fees and Financial Aid

Scholarship opportunities are offered based on nationality, performance in studies, sports and under special circumstances. The toppers of each branch every semester have 50% of their term fee laid off.

Campus Life

5

The campus is as beautiful as it gets. People are encouraged to have interactions and there's so much to learn in such a diverse environment. People from all across the country (and other countries) are a part of one batch. The ratio of boys is definitely higher but that's just engineering I guess. Although the number of girls per batch is at least 15 on an average for every branch.

Alumni/Alumna

The alumni are very supportive. The college keeps inviting distinguished alumnus for buddy sessions/ training sessions/ guest lectures for the current batches. It really gives valuable insights into what the future may look like for us. Most of the students who are senior and still in college are supportive and helpful. The college has a zero-tolerance policy when it comes to ragging and so it has helped a lot of people settle in peacefully in the hostels. Max the seniors have is a fun first interaction in the form of an informal intro.

Admission

After making it to the cutoff, I was invited for induction to the college. Available seats were displayed live on the screen for every branch and students were called upon based on their marks in the exam they selected to get admissions upon. I went on the SITE exam cutoff day which was the first day of induction. It is followed by JEE mains and MHTCET exam marks.

Faculty

5

There are approximately 40 lectures on an average for each course. And around 5-6 courses each sem. Almost every faculty is in their early 30s and have an experience of teaching at other colleges. Many domain-specific faculties have an impeccable record of being either an ex-IITian or teaching at one. Lectures are honed to help students grasp the subject and not just mug things up.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because I have genuine interest in civil engineering. The faculty student ration is 1:50. Our faculties are well qualified they are master's degree holders in design and structural engineering. Some of them are PhD holders and many of them have done their master's from NIT and IIT. Term exams are scheduled after every 2 months. it is easy to pass because it consists of 30 marks only.
