Symbiosis Institute of Technology : An Amazing Experience

Overall, Symbiosis Institute is a great experience.

The curriculum here is quite relevant and research-driven as well. There are a variety of subjects and the courses are abundant. There are labs for each subject which helps to get practical, hand-on knowledge as well. Many industrial visits were also organised for different subjects.

The placement cell helps to provide jobs and placements to the students. Although internships have to be searched by the student itself. There is not much help provided for internships. A number of companies come to the university for placements for different branches. Companies like Google, Tech Mahindra, Vodafone, IBM, Amazon are few of the fortune 500 companies which arrive for recruitment. Around 70-80 students are placed through Campus Recruitment.

Events like Cultural fests, Tech-fests, Sports day, celebrations on days like Independence Day, Holi are carried on in this university. Participation is in huge numbers since almost all students actively participate in these events. The students and the faculties work together to bring success in all these events. For Technical fests, there is participation from other universities as well.

The yearly fee is about 2.65 lakhs per annum for a BTech student. The fee has to be paid in two halves for each semester. A total of 10.6 lakhs is the fee for the entire BTech program. Payment of fees is very simple since it can be carried out via different methods both Online/Offline. Symbiosis also has its own site for fees payment which makes the process easy.

I did not opt for any scholarship or education load. The college does provide scholarships for students on the basis of merit.

Campus life in Symbiosis is great. People are very friendly and mix up well. Students from all over the world come at symbiosis which makes it a diverse university. There is no discrimination on the basis in gender, race or religion. Extracurricular activities are carried on in the college. Competitions and debates are also performed.

Hostel facilities are good. 3 students usually stay in sharing in one room. There are separate blocks for Boys and Girls. All facilities are provided like WiFi, Hot water, furniture, etc. Cleanliness and hygiene are maintained in the hostel. Mess facilities are also provided for the students staying in a hostel. However, sometimes the mess food is not up to the mark, in which case there are ample amount of hotels and small stalls available for food outside the campus.

The alumni network and senior students are helpful. They stay in touch even after the completion of their course. Seniors help a lot in many aspects like placements, hostel information, etc.

The course I opted for in the college was for Electronics and Telecommunication. I got admission in this college through the Symbiosis Entrance Test and MH-CET scores. Numerous factors made me choose this institution for my engineering including the academics, courses offered, teaching methods, availability of various labs and the placements provided. The admission procedure was quite simple. There was a Counselling, in which on the basis your scores in JEE, MH-CET and SET, seats were allocated to the students.

On average there are about 4-5 subjects for one semester. Each subject has about 4-5 hours of lectures which are based on the credits of the subject. There are a variety of components for each subject like tests, quiz, viva, reports, poster making, etc which helps a student to qualify. The faculty is good and opts for different methods of teaching through PPT's, books and Smart TV. The lecturers also provide different certificate-based courses which are conducted usually for a period of 2 days, where a lecturer from outside is invited to conduct the course. There are various seminars also based on a wide range of topics which are trending.
