Review by a final year student

My experience at this college has been very good and I couldn't ask for a better college than this. My batchmates my teachers everyone has been supportive and helpful.

My branch was Computer Science. After 4 years I can say that the course curriculum fits perfectly with the GATE syllabus. Everything that is taught is the same as the questions that will be asked in your interviews. Students were allowed to apply for internships at outside industries and were given full compensation afterwards.

As my experience placement differs in departments. In my branch i.e. CSE many companies came for placements, tech giants like TCS, Wipro, Cognizant. They give a good lump sum enough for a fresher to start his/her career. In other branches both private and PSU's come to our college for placements. From CSE almost 2/3rd of the students get placed every year.

Every year our college celebrates our annual fest called Phoneix. It is a 3 days event which includes various competitions like singing, dancing, painting and even beatboxing. You will see everyone on a t-shirt for one of these competitions. Starting from last year our first Tech Fest was organized called Technovus which included various competitive competitions and workshops.

I have seen the fee structure is very feasible compared to other colleges. The return of investment i.e. how much you are paying to study and what placement you get afterwards is very good. If you choose to opt for a hostel then hardly you have to pay 5000 per month. I mean that is very feasible. You don't have to pay much and if you study hard you can get a job at the end.

Studying in a government college in Assam makes you eligible for the UGC Ishan Uday Scholarship for Northeast students. Every year 10000 students are selected for this scholarship and a good amount based on your course is given to you every month. There are other state scholarships you can go for.

Campus life is great. There are many extracurricular activities organized by the student union. The college has labs capable to bear the experiments mentioned in our courses. Starting from the physics lab, chemistry lab we have many computer labs as most of our competitive exams are conducted online. We have labs for different courses too.

The alumni network of our college is very strong. Every year many seminars are organized where they talk to the students share their experiences and invite them to work with them. Most companies come to our college on recommendation from our alumni only. Even today when we talk to our seniors about the outside world and how are they making it work they never hesitate to answer.

To get admission into state engineering colleges of Assam I had to appear for the state entrance called Assam CEE (Combined Engineering Entrance) Exam. It's an MCQ based exam with negative markings. After the exam, the conducting authority puts an ad in the newspapers regarding the cutoff of different sections and the date of counselling. On the date of counselling, you are called based on your marks.

The faculty of this college is very experienced in their fields. They are super friendly and will help you any way they can. Being experienced in their respective fields allows them to clear all doubts that may come in your mind. Apart from academics they also help the students in internships and final year placements.
