Remarks
NIT Silchar is a really good college. It has a lush green campus of 650 acres. Life in NIT Silchar is really a memorable one.NIT has one of the largest waterbodies in a campus. It's waterbodies are used for research purposes. We have our own solar energy harvesting facilities also.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is really good at NIT Silchar. It takes into account of modern industry requirements and as well as the fundamentals for research purposes.The topics are taught nicely. And the exams held properly. The labs are also equipped with required tools and equipments.
Placement Experience
Placements and training are very good in our college. The placement session starts in 7th semester. Various MNCs and PSUs visit our campus for hiring BTech graduates. They also provide internship foe 3rd year students. Yes, our college also provides internship for 3rd year students from various colleges.
College Events
NIT Silchar has two main festivals. The technical event is called Tecnoesis which takes place in October. And the cultural event called Incandescence takes place in February. Apart from that we have two spring time festivals - Posua and Oikyotan.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure varies depending on different categories. For ST/SC/PWD students it is around 9k per semester. For General/OBC students whose parent's income is less than 1lac has to pay 9k per semester. Whose parent's income is between 1-5 lacs they have to pay 30k and whose income is greater than 5lacs has to pay around 60k per semester. All the fees exclude Hostel fees.
Fees and Financial Aid
One of our batchmate was selected for student exchange program in Romania. All her expenses were taken by the college. Some students also got foreign internships. I think, they were also provided financial help.
Campus Life
We have all kind of extra curricular activities. Starting from different indoor and outdoor games like cricket, football, basketball, lawn-tennis, badminton, table-tennis facilities in our college. We have different clubs starting from music, dance, literature, fine arts to mountaineer and trekking club, skating club and also coding club, machine learning club, robotics club. We have gym facilities in our college.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are in good to moderate condition. Some are old hostels and some are new. Internet( LAN) is provided in every hostel. Food quality is also good. Breakfast, Lunch, Snacks and dinner is served. We have veg and non veg both options.
Alumni/Alumna
Seniors are extremely helpful. Starting from providing notes to mental guidance they are always there. They are like elder brothers and sisters of my second home. Whenever I felt down, I went to their rooms to talk about their struggles and how they overcame. We also gossip about other useless stuffs also.hehe.
Admission
After class 12, I appeared for JEE Mains. The admission criteria is based on JEE mains All India Rank. After the ranks are declared, a choice filling process is done where we can give preference of various NITs and the respective courses. Based on our preference, we get a seat. I got selected for Electronics and Communication Engineering in NIT Silchar. Then on the admission day, we have to provide the required documents and fee receipt to secure our seat.
Faculty
Faculties are good in NIT Silchar. They are very co-operative. They try to guide us in every possible way. They try to teach us as elaborately as possible. In projects also they try to teach, help us very well.
