Remarks
Overall I recommend NITC to those who want to pursue a career in engineering. It is in my opinion the best engineering College in kerala as well as one of the best engineering Colleges in India. College life in NITC will be fun and eventful.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum usually undergoes revising every year. The course difficulty varies according to each branch of engineering. But it is never a huge burden for the students and accounts for students. The course curriculum is well structured.The entire 8 semester curriculum is available in internet.The books which you can refer to get a deep understanding in the subject is also listed in the curriculum.In a semester there is two exams (Mid Sem and End Sem) plus assignments , projects and seminars.
Placement Experience
One of the best institute in India in providing placements for its students.There are a lot of companies visiting every year and its improving year by year.The institute is providing lot of internships.The students both inside and outside NITC can apply for it.You can also assist any projects if they approve. Overall the College has an placemat ratio of almost 80 percent, which is very impressive.
College Events
NITC hosts its annual technical festival, Tathva in September and it's cultural fest Ragam in January. Both attract participants from all over the country, and are always huge successes. Infact tathva is largest technical festival of South India.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is feasible. There are many scholarships which can be availed by students who come from poor background to make it less burdensome for them. The fee Structure is like this:1)No fee for students whose annual family income is less than 1 lakhs 2)40000 for Students whose annual family income is between 1-5lakh 3)1.25 lakhs for students whose family income is above 5 lakhs.
Fees and Financial Aid
There are many scholarships in the College provided by government and non government agencies.Some are E-Grants for Below Poverty Line , Scholarships for Other Backward Category Muslims.etc. These scholarships help students who have financial troubles.
Campus Life
The extracurricular activities have a perfect balance with the academics.The sports,arts,music, literature etc is supported by the authorities.There is special clubs and funds for encouraging these activities. There are plethora of clubs and committees in our College from which you can choose and bring out the best in you.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes.They are very helpful and supportive.Alumnis come every year to the campus to revisit and also to assist the students in building their career.There is an alumni affairs council to take care of this activities in the campus.
Admission
The btech graduates in our College have high placement opportunity. The admission to the College is through the jee main exam. Furthermore there is also DASA reservation for students abroad India. The computer science stream is especially popular and had 100 percent placement.
Faculty
All the professors are properly qualified and maintain good relations with the students. A very healthy percentage of the staff is senior, and junior professors teach only first and second year students. NIT Calicut is currently mentoring NIT Sikkim.
