For phd we have to do course work. M.tech students should take 10-13 credits and M.Sc background should take 20 credits. After course work we have to carryout the research work. There will be a registration seminar for converting from junior research fellow to senior research fellow. Then after sufficient work and on approval of supervisor synopsis seminar should be given and finally defence seminar.

B.Tech students gets place in top Multinational companies like Google, Microsoft, etc. Same M.tech as well. Master students get good opportunity in industries as well as PhD position inside India and abroad. PhD students good post doctoral position abroad and good position in academics.

Every year a cultural event named spring fest happens during January. A yearly technical event Kshitij happens every year during spring season. Other than that there occurs lot of events from each department.

For PhD fees must be paid each semester. Scholars will receive scholarship of rs.31000/- per month for first two years and rs.35000/- for another thouree years. M.tech students receive 12400 per month for two years. B.tech doesn't have any scholarship.

No student or form parties allowed. but there are lot of sports facilities available. There is a swimming pool available inside the campus and lots of big cricket, food ball, hockey and other outdoor games field available. There is also a place called gymkhana where there is a student gym and other indoor games like badminton available.

There are almost around 22 hostels. Hostel is bit worst. But manageable. The food quality is worst and rooms are not upto the level. PhD student mostly gets single room with shared restrooms. M.tech and b.tech students gets shared rooms with common washourooms.

Alumni network is good here. Every year institute organises alumni meet and alumni from all over the world gathers here. Even Google CEO Mr. Sundar pitchai is an alumni of our institute. There are many notable alumni of the institute.

IIT Kharagpur is one of the first of India's prestigious institution. PhD application opens twice the yaer. I have applied and Came thourough interview and written exam. The selection will be based on written and interview results. After the selection we have to choose the supervisor.

It's a world class institute with good quality faculties. There are lot of professors who have hands on experience in vide variety of fields. The professors have excellent knowledge in the subject and has hands on experience in research.
