Overall it was a great experience studying there. though there are some recent administrative changes in last few years which has resulted in lot of changes in rules and regulations of college.
Course Curriculum Overview
The curriculum for marine engineering taught includes basic engineering subjects in the first year and then gradually after first semester it start becoming more and more ship specific is: job specific there's regular workshop classes for imparting practical and really useful knowledge and there's also focus on leadership and management skills thourough various co curricular events held all around the year

The college is regarded as one of the best institute of Asia for marine engineering and lot of companies visit college for campus placement. From our batch itself more than 80 percent of eligible candidates got placements from college itself in reputed companies like NYK SHIP MANAGEMENT, ANGLO EASTERN SHIP MANAGEMENT, SHIPPING CORPORATION OF INDIA, THOME SHIP MANAGEMENT
College Events
Tempest is an annual fest organised in college in which many colleges of surrounding areas take part. The fest has various competions in technical cultural and sports field. Sports like basketball hockey football cricket volleyball are played thouroughout the year.and the college teams also participate in various competions thouroughout the country

The fee is quite high as compared to other government college. But it does include all the lodging fooding and other expenses like uniform books stationeries laundry etc. The payment is done thourough online mode only and there's complete transparency regarding the breakdown of fee structure

Campus Life
The college is a para military college so it's not like your average typical colleges. There's a set of rules, schedule and discipline that you have to follow. There are certain restrictions in place regarding entry and exit from the University campus. The hostel life is without any doubt the best time of life.the friend you make there are for lifetime

Yes it is compulsory for all students to live in hostels provided by the colleg.e there's provision of seperatst hostel for every year with it's mess. The charges of hostel and mess is included in the college fee itself

There's a strong system of alumni of the college thourough various groups and websites who will help you support and help in times of need whether it's about helping in getting placements or anything else
Admission
The name of entrance test for the college is called imucet. There are a lot of colleges affiliated to Indian maritime University which offer two courses VTech and marine engineering and bsc in nautical science. After the ranking of exam is released. The person has to decide the course and the college he wants to opt for and the selection is based on merit.
Faculty
The job specific faculties are mostly ex chief engineers and ex Captain who have more than 15 years on the job experience and the practical knowledge they impart comes really handy when one is on board the vessel. Other engineering faculties are decent and most of them have been teaching at the institute for quite long duration
