Amazing Off-campus experience

The college management is helpful. Even after passing out of the college I have found that the college management extends their help towards students who have any issue or need any help.

For admission to BA English (Honors) entrance exams were scraped in the year I was due to take admission, so I got admission on the basis of marks I scored in 10+2.

The college follows the English literature curriculum as prepared by Delhi university. We studied Victorian Literature, Restoration, Romanticism, Modernist Literature, Renaissance literature etc. Electives were Logic, Ethics, Hindi, Sanskrit and Gandhian Principles

No. There was no formal provision for internship in this college for BA English Honors as its not a vocational course.

Like for all DU colleges, placement at DDUC is also through the Central Placement Cell of Delhi University. However, the opportunities that come around for BA English students are not that lucrative. The companies which participated were generally MNCs hiring for customer care executive profiles.

There was one annual cultural fest. Apart from that there were several inter department fests organized each year. ZEST, the English Society also organized inter-department fest each year and saw participation from students of DDUC and other colleges of Delhi University. There is also an annual Sports meet held each year.

The fee structure is feasible and affordable. Deserving students are also offered scholarship. Average fee for BA English ranged somewhere between 12000-15000 INR. Though paying fee is another issue. The process took time and owning to the crowd was a hectic process.

No. I have no knowledge of any loan facility. Besides the fee is not too high for normal BA and B.Sc. programs to require any loan.

All in all I found life at this college interesting and amazing. I ahd a great experience and despite the popular perception that campus life at off campus colleges is not too happening, I think I had the best three years of my life in this college. I still miss spending time in the sprawling ground of the campus on winter mornings.

There was no hostel for this college, however easy accomodation was available in the surrounding area of the college. The College canteen had good food on cheap rates for students. canteen served all kinds of food items from fast food to proper meals.

There is a formal and proper netwrok for alumni of the college at place. Alumni can register on the official website of the college. Every year an official alumni meet is organized by the college where all ex-students meet and greet.

In the annual system, exams were held once a year. In the semester system exams are held once for each semester. For annual system there used to be a house exam but for semester system there is no such provision. We had no practical examination. Internal assessment was on the basis of assignments and presentation.

The faculty was and is amazing. The teachers here believe in inculcating the spirit of literature rather than making students learn just the texts. The faculty is also forthcoming when it comes to personal or textual doubts. All the teachers here help students to develop their own view points on matters related to literature and life.
