IIT Roorkee review

Management is really very supportive of the students. It has a very good environment for creative minds to develop.

Firstly in the first and second year of your college the courses basically not related to industrial learning, they comprise of basic knowledge of the branch and basic learnings 8ncluding practicals. Then from 3rd year, the courses relating to industrial management and industrial visits are added for the industrial exposure. There are ample or opportunities for the students to go in the research field and it is fair.

Generally, more than 90% of students get placed every year from our course. Companies like BAJAJ, TATA STEELS, MARUTI SUZUKI, RELIANCE PETROLEUM INDUSTRY, JAGUAR AND LAND ROVER LIMITED comes and many more come for the recruitment. There is a specific group named Training and placement office which take care of the training of students for making them ready for the internship and placement, calling the companies for recruitment. The general procedure of recruitment is as follows- Firstly the application then online test then Group discussion and then final interview including an hour round.

Every year there are three festivals that are organized in the campus by the student groups namely- 1) Thomso- it is the best cultural fest in north India. 2) Cognizance - it is the technical fest and is held in the month of March. 3) Sangram- it is the sports fest of IIT Roorkee. Apart from these, all the religious festivals are also celebrated on the campus.

The fee structure is average and feasible. The tuition fees are a bit high, the rest all is good. The fee structure is well defined and transparent. The detailed fee breakdown is provided in the fee receipt that is mailed to every student after the fee submission of every semester.

I have opted for an education loan from SBI. There is an SBI branch inside the campus which have a tie-up with the Institute for the loan.

Gender diversity and ratio is good. There are many clubs and students group in campus for creative activities. There are also a sports complex and grounds for sports activities. There are many cultural societies also like activities like dramatics, dance singing, etc. The facilities and infrastructure for all the extracurricular activities are well maintained and good. And the campus provides every support possible for the students to motivate them.

Yes, I have opted for the hostel. Hostels have really nice infrastructure, cleanliness, and good services. Each hostel has its own mess, gym, canteen, laundry, and T.V. room. There are no restrictions for students for entry and exit timings. Each hostel also has night canteens. There are single rooms after the 2nd year in each boy's hostel.

The college is more than 100 years old and thus has a very big alumini network. Every year a silver, diamond, golden, and platinum jubilees are celebrated to maintain this big network. All the alumni try to have an attachment with the campus and hence are very helpful. There is a separate fund in which the deposit is only made by the alums to support the various campus groups.

For admission in B. TECH. IDD, B. ARCH. Programme an entrance exam is being conducted for intermediate students. The exam is in two stages namely- 1) JEE mains 2) JEE advance. The first exam is conducted two times a year that is in January and April. And after passing the first phase we move on to the two-second phase of the exam that is jeed advance and after clearing both exams the college is allotted according to your rank.
