Remarks

If you are willing to opt for marine engineering it's a good college to be in.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

So the course is B.Tech Marine Engineering which is a 4 year course divided into 8 semesters. You are being focused both physically and academically. There are numerous sports being played here and according to your interest you can join one of the sports. The academics mainly focuses on you to become a good marine engineer and hence all the needful informations are provided thouroughout the course.

Placement Experience

3

See I won't be saying that the placements are excellent but as compared to other colleges the placement of the college is pretty decent. Each batch has a placement cell which contact the companies for recruitment and good companies do come for placements and they offer a good package to the students.

College Events

3

The annual fest of the college is called TEMPEST in which various types of technical and cultural events take place. It also have sports included in it. So overall it is an sports, cultural and technical fest in which students from different colleges of kolkata as well as colleges from outside kolkata participate.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The current fee structure is feasible and it's 2.25LPA. As it is an residential course, your tution fees, mess fees and hostel fees is included in it. The admission is done purely on merit basis and no other fees is being charged at the time of admission apart from a small amount of caution money which is refundable at the end of the course.

Fees and Financial Aid

You can get education loan from banks. At the time of admission the college also provide details of bank which are willing to offer education loans.

Campus Life

3

See the gender ratio is very much nasty (chuckling) as almost all of them are boys. For eg: My batch strength is 277 and no. of girl cadets is only 3, remaining 274 are boys(just imagine). So it's almost a boys college but not a boys college. You will love here as you can grow both physically and educationally here and after life is also good. Time to time some debates and extra activities are practiced here. If you are good at sports you can easily get your spot in college team and represent the college in different colleges.

Alumni/Alumna

Yes the alumni network is very important in this field. In case you don't get campus placement, the alumnis would help you in getting a job.

Admission

You need to clear IMU-CET. This exam is conducted all over India and based upon your rank you can end up in this college. As it's the best college for marine engineering you need to have a good rank to end up in this college. The entrance exam application is generally released in the month of April. Every year the exam is conducted in May/June and the admissions are done in July.

Faculty

4

The faculties are very good here. Few of them are Chief Engineers or 2nd engineers themselves whom we refer to as officers. As they have both theoretical and practical knowledge it's quiet beneficial for the students. They are very helpful. Those who are not officers they are also good at teaching. Overall you will get a good team of faculty here.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
