Remarks
Good points - Great intellectual mix of students, focus on extra curriculum and encouragement to diversify beyong regular course workSome negatives - Infrastructure facility was not that upto the mark during our time, no hostel during that time
Entrance Preview
Class XIIth percentage, scored 89.5%Was interested in Economics as a subject and Venkateswara college was the best option available as per the cut offs.
Course Curriculum Overview
Curriculum was descent however could have been modified as per the current times requirements - focus on Economic History was a lot, which could have been reduced and some economic issues of todays time could be introduced.
Internships Opportunities
In bachelors typically we dont have internship offered by the college. Students can do it by themselves during summer break. Till our time there was no provision of internship, not sure if things have changed now.
Placement Experience
Some of the companies which came our time were. These were offered to bachelor students Mckinsey Knowledge Centre - 4 Lacs PACapital IQ - INR 2.8 LacsHewitt - INR 3 Lacs per annumGoogle - INR 3 Lacs per annumand the likes All figures are of during 2007, things must have changed now.
College Events
Main fest used to be Nexus, a 3 day event with a celebrity singer performance, lot of competitions and cultural activities. For economics students, main event was Bliss Point. Was at National level with colleges from other states also participating.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Since it was a University of Delhi college, being a Government college, fee was very affordable. Around 2500 INR per annum with examination fee seperately of around 500 INR. This is during 2007, amount may have changed now.
Fees and Financial Aid
Do not have knowledge about the same as did not avail of any loan or scholarship facility. However DU offers scholarship hence there is a provision.
Campus Life
Campus life was one of the best times of growing up. we had lot of cultural societies like debating, singing, theatre, sports and dance.Gender ratio was very balanced with almost equal percentage of male and females. As DU is a very affordable institution so people from all sections of the society had access and were enrolled in the course.
Hostel Facilities
During our tenure there was no hostel available, however a hostel was in the process of building up. hence wont be able to describe in detail about the hostel facilities.
Alumni/Alumna
College alumni were very helpful and there were regular interactions being organized with them by the alumni department of the course. Alumni were at very senior positions in top companies and share their experiences on the career path post a bachelors degreee
Exam Structure
Exam structure was very comfortable. Enough gaps in between of two papers. Lot of preparation time was given.
Faculty
Few were very good. However, in 3rd year didn't have a very good faculty. For 1-2 subjects there was a huge gap before we got a professor. Also, got few ad hoc professors who were finishing their Phd from JNY, they were not very regular not too experienced.
