Anonymous's Review On Dyal Singh College - [DSC], New Delhi

The college comes under the list of colleges in Delhi university. Delhi university was the one word which drove me to take admission in this college. Dyal Singh college has an enviable location, situated at the central part of the Lodhi road. It boasts of a great atmosphere in touch with nature for learning. Had the best of our faculty imparting their wisdom. The hangouts near the college are also worth mentioning like the Khan market or Meher chand market or most importantly the Lodhi garden. I opted for the BA(Hons.) Economics course to pursue my aim of making a mark in the risk analytics field.

Course syllabus was not dynamic but historical, our texts were dated 2 - 3 years before but it didn't affect our studies negatively, as there hasn't been much updated development in texts in the past years. Industrial exposure is average, you get the occasional opportunities to apply what you learn. The faculty of the Economics department is one of the best and a gem. Their experience and knowledge is boundless. The faculty are very attentive and patient to the needs of the students.

Many of the companies that visited for job placement were start ups like josh talks etc. The companies were very enthusiastic about interacting, but the job profiles offered were in the lines of sales, marketing, writing. The number of students placed was about 10 to 15% of the strength of class. The placement process is efficiently done online with only the interviews held at the college. The placement department of our college has smaller student cells in each department. it is very up to date about the current job scenario and through Whatsapp groups, we get updated by the latest job opportunity.It also conducts orientation programs to address students' fears, apprehension and doubts.

We have an annual college cultural fest attended by students all over form Delhi university. Each department has its own fest like Eco waves for Economics department. The fests conducted are big enough that almost all the DU colleges participate in them. There are attractive prizes in the form of cash awards and vouchers etc. and food stalls also are put up to cater to the students.

There is a scholarship facility wherein, you have to meet their cutoff of the CGPA required for that year, to waive of the fees for that specific year. Continued academic performance will lead to waiving of the fees for successive years too.

Campus infrastructure was poor earlier but with new infusion of funds, new academic blocks have been created to accommodate the increasing number of students. Labs are very well equipped with faculty always present to help. the library is of sufficient size and contains a wide range of books of all genres and subjects. The sports facilities are also good with dedicated grounds and equipment available. Wi-fi is strong at some places particularly inside the buildings, but weak outside the academic block.
