Remarks

I'd suggest to choose Jai Hind College over any other college in Mumbai because it focuses on the all round development of the student, not just academic. The college definitely excels at academics with the most learned, enthusiastic and motivating faculty, but also provides various kinds of opportunities for all kinds of talents. Various programs are organized at the departmental, intracollegiate and intercollegiate level. The cultural committees of the college provide provide opportunities to participate in various competitions like dance, drama, music, photography, elocution and stand up comedy to name a few. They give a platform to showcase one's organising, marketing and PR skill as well. Being in the Bachelor of Science ( Microbiology ) program, one witnesses many workshops and informative seminars by eminent speakers. Jai Hind is the place where one gets to enjoy college life at its fullest with the ever joyfull and enthusiastic students in the campus. Dance and fashion show practices drive the cheerful vibe on campus. Cultural fests are always around the corner. There are a lot of events going on. The everyone gets opportunities to participate. The teachers also play an instrumental role in shaping the personality of the students, both within and outside academics. They are always eager to solve doubts and guide the students. The syllabus of the Microbiology course is really good and an upgraded version of Mumbai University's syllabus. Teaching has been immensely enhanced after the college received autonomy. Great teachers and institutions make good students, and ultimately good citizens of the nation; Jai Hind College is an epitome of such a great institution.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

The course of B. Sc programs are really good and informative. The syllabus is an upgraded version of Mumbai University's syllabus. It has been upgraded after the college received autonomy. It is at par with any good autonomous college. Syllabus of any autonomous college is better than Mumbai university syllabus. Various workshops and seminars by eminent speakers are organized. Many activities are held in the department under the DBT Star grant, which are a great opportunity for the students to learn from. The syllabus of the course is good enough to enable students to crack entrances for PG entrances organized by different institutes. The teaching faculty is excellent, enthusiastic and always motivating, always ready to solve all doubts. They encourage students to participate in quizes and subject specific olympiads, like Micro olympiad for Microbiology; it is a state level competition. They also guide students to participate in Science exhibition 'Xplore' organized in college. They guide students to research for competitions like Aavishkar, held by Mumbai University.

Placement Experience

4

Placements are not offered after B. Sc, but are offered after Bachelor's in other fields. The companies which come to recruit are really reputed. The pay packages are decently good. Companies like KPMG, Reliance come for placements.

College Events

5

There are a lot of cultural committees in college. Students are spoilt for choices. They provide opportunities to all students to explore their talents. Various intercollegiate fests are organized every year, almost more than 10 major events. Colleges from all over Mumbai are inviteted to participate. They provide opportunities to compete in fields of dance, drama, music, stand up comedy, elocution, art, photography and many more. One also also try their hands at organizing fests, marketing and PR. Some of the prominent fests organized in Jai Hind are SHOUTT, Kani, Entourage, Talash, Treasure hunt, marathon, sports day etc. The college's cultural committees get a lot of sponsorships by big brands, owing the the reputation of the college and the fests which happen every year successfully. There are a lot of celebrities and famous personalities which visit the college during fests to judge various competitions. The food of the college canteen in just mouth watering.

Campus Life

4

The campus is decently huge and houses 2 buildings. The space has been utilized very well. The old building is of 4 floors and houses the entire Science field, right from Junior college to Post graduation level. The new building is of 7 floors and has a beautiful infrastructure, centrally air conditioned facility. The old building had a huge centrally air conditioned library, which is good environment for students to sit and study. It has thousands of books of different genres. The library can accommodate 150 students at once and students can use computer and internet facilities. The college provides wifi facility to all students everywhere in the college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose Biotechnology because it is a multidisciplinary field. We get to study not only topics related to biotechnology but also biochemistry, bio physics, bio informatics, bio statistics, etc. Mostly everything that is essential for future exams is taught during the span of 3 years. The topics of the units are taught in depth but the questions asked during exams are comparatively easy as to what all we studied. The frequency of the exam is, 1 internal exam which consists of both mcqs and written exam, the semester exam for each semester and practical exams for each subject. If u have studied then you will be able to attempt the questions.

Placement Experience:

My college gives campus placement placement opportunities typically after 4th semester, which is the 2nd half of the 2nd year. As my college has a partnership with IBM so the standards of campus placement go right up as the placement depends on the curriculum performance of the student so can't really say much for this. If saying as a stalemate, getting a placement is basically confirmed if the student maintains his/her CGPA of 6-7, which shows the consistent of the student in their field.
