Remarks
It is a State owned government Technical college. The fees is very low compared to other colleges, and most importantly, the environment here is very peaceful and you will always feel close to the nature. Also, the facilities like Science and technical labs, central computing facility centre, LAN in all hostel rooms are great. Also, the food prepared in the mess is not bad. The people of nearby village are very simple in nature.
Course Curriculum Overview
The college is affiliated with Uttarakhand Technical University, Dehradun, so it follows the course curriculum set by the university and it is updated in nearly every 4-5 years. The books are provided to the students by the college library for the duration of every semester in every year, so you don't have to buy books from the market. Extra classes for competitive exams like GATE and CAT are also held for students. There was a shortage of faculties in 2015-16, but now for the past 2-3 years, the TEQIP faculties have joined the college, and now it's fine. The faculties are well experienced and interact with students.
Placement Experience
Not too many companies visit the campus, but the training and placement cell gives the details of placement drives happening around the state on regular basis. Companies like BYJU's, POMPEII technologies visit the campus.
College Events
Events are organized every year in the campus for different branches/ years and also for the whole college. Seminars are organized nearly every 3-4 months. The biggest event that happens every year is SCINTILLA- it includes everything from cultural programs to speeches by renowned persons, technical events for different branches, DJ night, sports tournaments of cricket, football, basketball, volleyball, and indoor games. Any student can participate in any event.
Fees and Financial Aid
A prize of Rs. 3000/- is given to some of the toppers of every branch in every semester. Also, the state scholarships for minority groups and OBC, SC, and ST is given by the college. The students belonging to these groups can fill the forms on state government websites and then submit it in college to avail the benefits. Also, a Tution fee waiver scheme is given to the bright but poor students in every branch.
Campus Life
The BTKIT is located in a valley surrounded by mountains. There is 1 administration block, 4 blocks for 7 branches (+2 blocks for first-year students) , 1 central library, 1 central computing facility center with high-speed wifi, 3 canteens, 1 branch of SBI bank, 1 workshop, 1 multipurpose hall, 1 lawn tennis court, 1 basketball court, 1 small gym, 1 guest house, 1 central park, 2 big playgrounds, hostels for every student with LAN facility in every room, and shops for every essential items nearby every hostel. Multipurpose hall includes indoor sports facilities like badminton, table tennis, carrom, chess. The labs have all the required equipment, atleast my branch had them. The size of the library is very big, it has thousands of books and journals and they issue books to students on the library card.
Hostel Facilities
The hostels are provided to every single student of the college. For the first year, it is compulsory to reside in a hostel. The rooms are sharing. For the first year, it is 3 or 2 beds per room. For the second year, it is 4 or 2 beds per room. For the third year, it is 2 beds per room. for the final year, it is 2 beds per room. The rooms have okay space, and you do not feel congested. Everyone gets their own cupboard and table and chair. The rooms have 1 LAN connection through which you can access the internet. All hostels have their separate mess where food is provided. Also, all hostels have a TV room where you can watch news, sports, movies or anything in your free time. Also, some hostels have table tennis facilities.
