Remarks
I needed to move from science to finance and the curriculum provided some sustainable knowledge in the field to bridge my gap. The low fees helped too.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is part economics and part finance. Hence you will have to have room for both. The data processing programs that we learn are on Libre Office, SPSS, and likes which are pretty outdated compared to their modern rivals such as R. The faculty has set a good standard of teaching, but I wouldn’t call it great. However, there are exceptional cases such as the department head Professor Harish Dhawan.
Internships Opportunities
I opted for an internship at an education-based startup called 9.0 Career Cafe as a social media marketer with a stipend of 17,000 for a month.
Placement Experience
The college currently has a placement cell but the results have been very disappointing so far. There were, however, talks of getting an external placement counselor. Hopefully, the placements for the new batches will be better with this addition.
College Events
The college conducts various annual sporting, business, social, and musical events organized by the corresponding societies. The participation is generally from within college as the college name is not prominent amongst other DU colleges.
Campus Life
The college has 2 computer labs for students to use. There is a small sports room with a carrom board, a few chess boards, 2 table tennis sets, and storage for other sports equipment such as racquets, shuttles, etc. There has been the development of a new library in the new block. There is also a lawn area for students to hangout, a juice stall, and a cafeteria.
