Remarks
Trying to become a global college by trying to meet the required criteria. Hope it gets there soon.
Course Curriculum Overview
Could be more focused on practical implementation and research. While relevant overall- it could be refreshed more often in order to be more up to date to teach students the latest technologies. A large part of the gradation is based on your ability to remember concepts rather than learn them.
Placement Experience
The placement process could be more organized- probably by outsourcing some part to an external agency instead of being completely controlled by students- it could be a collaborative effort. The quality of companies coming in was good but could potentially be improved if an interview center is opened in Delhi.
College Events
There is a technical test Cognizance and a cultural feat Thomso- both are large events with footfalls in many thousands. The technical fest also sees participation from many distinguished scientists/ personalities as part of the guest lectures. Also, almost all nearby colleges in Uttarakhand and many from Delhi participate in large numbers.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The course is not expensive in the context of the quality of education provided. IITs continue to subsidize education- thereby the cost to the institute is clearly higher than what students are charged. There was absolute transparency as to what the college charged.
Fees and Financial Aid
There weren’t any scholarships available ordinarily. I didn’t avail any therefore not sure about the details.
Campus Life
The gender ratio at 1:11 clearly had scope for a lot of improvement. This has a lot to do with the prescription that engineering is not a natural course for girls. The student diversity on other fronts like ethnicity, race, and religion seemed healthier- but also had scope for improvement.
Hostel Facilities
Yes. The facilities could definitely be better maintained, but in hindsight, it was a good learning experience to be able to live in less than sufficient conditions. Since the hostel was compulsory- the cost was incorporated in the overall fee.
Alumni/Alumna
Yes, the campus has a good alumni network- through building your network is something each individual needs to pursue themselves and is not something the college facilitates.
Admission
Based on JEE Rank. Based on the rank one gets in the entrance exam they can select their preferred branch and course across different IITs. Then on basis of at which rank a certain branch course and college end it is decided which one you’d be allotted.
Faculty
The faculty was great, with most professors being very involved in the classes. However like everywhere in India the fact that the teacher-student ratio tends to be so low, makes personalized attention an area of concern. The quality of teachers and teaching nonetheless was excellent.
