Remarks
It's just like other college management. It has increased the fees continuously in recent years and are having for privatization of college.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course curriculum is highly updated and alligned with recent research and findings. Exams are very relevant, standardized and fair. However the curriculum is not much aligned with industry specifications. But this may be the case because it is an academic degree not a professional one.
Placement Experience
Placements are there, but they are bagged by students from a few courses like commerce, maths, stats, economics. Another factor may be that the students from different courses generally do not sit for placements as they opt for higher education. Scope of internships is bleak, for that students have to make individual efforts.
College Events
Mecca Annual Fest, Medina- Dramatics/street play festival, Vaktavya- Annual Conclave, Mushairah- Literary festival, Jashn e Hindu, Premchand memorial debate, Fests of societies (about a dozen). There is some event happening every week in the college. Some events like that of quizzing and debates are attended by the best in the country.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Although it has been hiked in recent times yet it is very much feasible. It is around 25000 per annum. Apart from these students need to pay 1220 rupees per semester as examination fees. There are no additional charges to be paid for securing admission because there is no management quota as such. Yes the college provides complete transparency in fee breakdown.
Fees and Financial Aid
I got Central Sector Scholarship from Ministry of HRD. This is for the students who have secured more than 85% in class 12th (top 10%ile of country). This amounts to 10000 rupees per annum. For availing this we need to apply on national Scholarship portal.
Campus Life
Cultural life in DU is best among several college campuses in India. Every week there is some event or workshop happening in the campus. A lot of movie stars come to colleges to promote their movies. The fests are attended by large no. of people. About discrimination this is one of the few campus in India where no. of female students is more than male students. You can find students roaming without fear at 2 o' clock in the night. Although there are some incidents like snatching of phones in residential areas where a few PGs are there and some misbehaving during fest times, but this is rare.
Hostel Facilities
Hostels are very good but have very less seats. For a college of 4000, hostel seats are around 400. So most of the students find accommodations in PGs in nearby areas. While hostel charges are around 4500 per month, expenses of a decent PG room based on double sharing can go upto 7000.
Alumni/Alumna
Those who are just seniors play a great role in enabling a newcomer to settle down and help them with academics as well as orher issues. About alumnus, I have no idea.
Admission
The students are required to apply on a centralized admission portal of Delhi University. This makes them eligible to take admission in all the collges of University. The colleges declare the percentage cutoffs for every course in a series. All those students whose marks are above these cutoffs, walk into the college and take admission. If all the seats are not filled, then the college decreases the cutoffs and students having lesser percentage get a chance. This is for undergraduate admissions where the admissions are completely merit based, while for postgraduation admissions are merit based for DU students & entrance based for students of other universities and DU as well.
Faculty
Although lecturers didn't hold any industry expertise but they were best in business. Even the junior faculties had more than 10 years of experience in research. Barring a few nearly all are doctorate holders. Regarding teaching, they have clarity and necessary expertise.
