Entrance Preview
I took the Jamia's self conducted Entrance exam for the various courses, it offers to the students. I opted for this college because I had submitted my Boards English Paper for revaluation. The recalculated marks came at a time, when admission in Top colleges of Delhi University was closed.
Course Curriculum Overview
Course Curriculum is pretty meticulously arranged, making the subject easier and also full of knowledge at the same time. We have semester examinations and also a bunch of Class Tests which are taken into account in the Marksheet. Along with the Majors, we have to choose One Subsidiary subject amongst a variety of subjects such as Maths, History, Political Science, etc. This helps in gaining knowledge from not only our field but also other subjects.
Internships Opportunities
During these 3 years, I didn't see any company/firm coming to offer internships to the people in our particular course. Moreover, people on our particular were dependent on Internships which they found on sites like LetsIntern.com, etc.
Placement Experience
Placement and Recruitment cell is pretty active unlike the Internships cell and as far as we know, a student who has graduated from BA might get an average package if 4-5 lacs per annum. That's not so bad, neither is it so good. In the last batch, more than 6 students got placed in different companies like SmartKube, etc. Most of the kids, prefer to pursue further studies - MBA and Masters in Economics rather than sitting for Placement, until and unless they are not in dire need of it.
Fee Structure And Facilities
Fee structure is very feasible. Total fee that I had to pay for 3 years was 15,500 Rs. And that includes everything from Admission and tution fee to Sports fee, etc. Fee in the 1st year was 5600Rs and went down to 4950Rs for the 2nd and 3rd year each.
Fees and Financial Aid
I don't think you'd need a loan to pay the annual fees of Jamia. It's Annual fee is pretty much lower than that of DU and any other Govt. University except JNU, in Delhi. Also I haven't heard of any scholarship that Jamia provides, but I do think they provide People in need with Scholarship.
Campus Life
The Campus life is okay-okay. Gender ratio might be 60:40 in favor of Boys. Cultural societies are active, I've never been a part of them or any other activity apart from sports activity. I take part in the yearly InterFaculty tournament. You'll find people of different social backgrounds, castes, religions, ethnicity and economic status blending pretty well, I didnt find any such disparity regarding the above mentioned factors.
Alumni/Alumna
No. I haven't been into the Alumni stuff, but I do have been in touch with some of my seniors, most of them are pursuing MBA like most of the kids in my batch intend to.
Exam Structure
Exam structure in Jamia might be one of the Most chilled out in the country. We have 6 exams in each semester and they stretch to go on for 25 days to 1 month. This relaxes the hostile atmosphere which is created by the semester end exams as you get an average of 4-5 days gap between every exam. The examination is more like a CBSE 12th board examination, only less serious.
Faculty
College has a very good Faculty, the staff is very much helpful relating to every matter, be it Academics, cultural event or any other Social event (like the Blood Donation Camp). They try to help the students as much as they can.
