Entrance Preview

AIEEE, i scored decent enough to get in civil engineering course. I wanted to learn in a nationalized professional college. Being a civil Engineer was my ambition. I visited NIT Calicut once in school. I liked the campus and it is situated in Kerala, What more should i ask for.

Course Curriculum Overview

3.5

The course curriculum was too good. But didn't get much time on extra curricular activities on second and third years. Every core subjects were taught in depth and satisfactorily. There were a lot of electives to choose from according to our aptitude. As a civil engineering aspirant i could choose really cool electives from Architecture Department. But There was this cut off for some electives which would deny the opportunity of getting some electives.

Internships Opportunities

There was really few internships offered. That too without stipend. Students had to do internship off campus. It used to depend on the industry one is interested in. for core engineering field there's very less chance you would end up in good internships. Although you can join researches in college which is good for knowledge.

Placement Experience

3

There was a big list of companies for placements. Some huge inn them. Students from ECE, CSE and EEE would get placed definite. But from other branches there are only a few companies, if you are looking for core field. For off campus placements the college got a big reputation to support. there is a good chance you end up in a handsome package as well.

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fee structure was feasible earlier, when it was around 40k per annum. But now its hiked to One lakh per annum which is very much higher than expensive.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are many scholarships offered by the college other than that are offered by the government organisations. These scholarships are really a helping hand for building Indian future.

Campus Life

3.5

Honestly the space is not enough to tell about campus life. There weren't enough girls in college. The ratio is 1:5. There were student parties on special occasion such as Diwali, New year, Onam etc. There was a great social connection among students and teachers. Lots of workshops, sports activities, Tournaments everything. There is an opportunity for whatever you wish to achieve. The Campus life was great.

Alumni/Alumna

The Alumni is constantly in touch with the college. There is get together once in every year. Decent number of Alumni programs. There is a really great helping hand from college seniors and alumni situated all over the world when its needed.

Exam Structure

There were 3 exam series in a semester, and internal assessments all the time. It was hectic especially in third, fifth and fourth semesters. But if you are a student updating subjects regularly, wont be much of a problem.

Faculty

3.5

All the Senior faculty were really good. There was too much to learn from their experience and knowledge. But there are only a few senior faculty in Civil Department. So we had to rely on Ad-hoc faculties. The standards would vary among ad-hocs. It really affects the teaching quality of college.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the EEE course curriculum around 8-8.5 /10 in terms of relevance. The curriculum provides strong fundamentals in core electrical engineering subjects and prepares students well for core jobs and higher studies. The course curriculum was revised in 2023, and our batch is the 1st batch under the new curriculum. however, there are still limited coding ,AI and data science subjects in EEE ,which could be improved. Exams are conducted times per semester and are generally moderately difficult.
