Remarks
The institute provides me with the best of education while with the distance learning facility. It gave me the opportunity to work as well as complete my masters easily. The faculty was very supportive and helped all along the course. The management was supportive too.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course was 2 year long and the level of study increased with every passing year. Every semester had 4-5 subjects which mainly consist of major literature subjects. English communication and behavioural science are taught too each year. External examination were taken at the end of each year. The main aim was to give masters degrees to the students who can?t afford the regular college. Total exams taken were 8, including the finals.
Placement Experience
The Masters opens a lot of opportunities for students. We can either continue our jobs for promotion and study further the literature or we can apply elsewhere according to our eligibility. Many students who do distance learning, want to get promoted or have a degree say to their career which we can continue. College has some placement opportunities, they would make you fill up a form via which you have an interview with various schools.
College Events
The University organizes events like Independence Day , Republic Day, Rabindra Jayanti, Basant Utsav, and many seminars from time to time. Once I took admission, I was aware of what was happening in order to participate. Participation is not mandatory. The university celebrates a lot of festivals and sports day events.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The college fees for the MA was less than ?5,000. The payment was to be made at the start of every year. After the fees all the registration and paperwork was completed. It was very feasible and not expensive. As the Distance learning is only for the working class and the ones who can?t afford regular colleges
Campus Life
The campus was very clean, safe and secure . As per the gender ratio, female students were much higher in number than male. The ratio was 1:4, women holding more ground. There were not much extracurricular activities options as it was just a distance learning college but we did have libraries equipped with the course books and computer labs for our research, if any.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities weren?t available in the campus, the accommodation was self. The food facilities weren?t available either, just one canteen which used to open for a few hours with limited food. The college had no active life due to the curriculum so built. Hence the hostel and mess were not available. Washrooms were clean and had basic faculty.
Alumni/Alumna
No, I did not have any senior students network present in the college. We only met our seniors at the time of examinations when they used to help teachers invigilate. There were no prominent experience sharing but basic conversations about the jobs and expectations from organisations.
Admission
I applied for the MA English literature course in the Directorate of Distance Education Rabindra Bharati University, Kolkata and got admission on the basis of my own merit. I scored 95% in the graduation and got the name in the first list. The application form was available online on their official website where I filled all my academic information with the documents. The admission to the distant learning was best suited for me as I was already working in school as a teacher.
Faculty
The faculty at this university was of nobles and learnt doctor teachers who are Phd holders and scholars. They are full of empathy and help students to attain their ambition in life. The online classes were conducted regularly and their connection to us was proper. They were all fluent in english that helped us through the syllabus, they also provided the important questions at the end to help the distance learners.
