The college is so very perfect that I really would not like to change anything about it. I would just like to thank the management for their efforts in making sure IIT Roorkee stays on top.
Entrance Preview
I took GATE for Chemical Engineering in 2014 and scored an AIR -567. I went for Masters in Computer Aided Process Plant Design in the deptt. of Chemical Engineering.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum is very well structured and their is a great focus on research and lab experience. The course includes Fundamental Studies, Modeling Of Processes And Equipment, Process Design And Control, Systems Engineering and the electives are diverse like Environmental Engineering And Waste Reduction, Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and a lot more.
Internships Opportunities
The college does offer internships along with a decent stipend which depends on organization to organization. For M.Tech. programs, MHRD offers a monthly stipend of about 12,400/- to every student.
Placement Experience
Good companies like Reliance, Tata Chemicals etc. do come for campus placements. Other giants like IOCL and GAIL also used to visit earlier. The package offered can be anything between 3.5 LPA to & 7.5/8 LPA as a starting one which is quite decent at the starting level.
College Events
The campus is always hustling with activities all round the year. 'Thomso' is the annual cultural festival which is one of the best in the North India. Apart from that, departmental technical activities, seminars and quizzes take place at a regular interval. There are a lot of clubs like Photography, Himalayan Club which are the ones to watch out.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure is around 45-50k per semester which is not really expensive keeping in mind the great facilities and faculty available. The government also provides subsidized education for engineering/science students and also the research infrastructure one gets exposed to is quite great.
Fees and Financial Aid
The SBI/ PNB bank branch of IIT Roorkee offers loans at quite low interests which are easily available to any student who has taken admission in the IIT. Otherwise there are a lot of Scholarships offered by the Govt. and MHRD for the engineering/ science students.
Campus Life
The gender ratios might not be very appealing but the girls and boys you interact with would be really amazing. The culture in IIT Roorkee is beautiful. The campus is simple charming. The running tracks and football fields are amazing. Cultural societies are buzzing with activities in the evening. Life is complete and content in IIT Roorkee.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is strong and is spread all over the world and India. Most of the alumni are currently in great managerial/technical posotions in organizations of great repute. The college oraganizes the Alumni Meet each year so that the bond stays strong.
Exam Structure
The exams are pretty conceptual. This is very simple to say because after all it is one of the oldest college - IIT Roorkee. The exams days are full of excitement along with little stress because some professors ask just too high level conceptual questions in exams.
Faculty
I would say the faculty of IIT Roorkee Chemical Engg. Deptt. is really very well learned and have in-depth subject knowledge. The classes are so interesting that one develops more interest in the subjects day by day. The labs also well very equipped.
