Remarks

Well its a very vast college and the best part being that there is no supreme authority given to one single person. Every decision is cross checked by the other which improves the administrative decision making capability of our institute. Hence overall its nice and effective.

Entrance Preview

I took JEE, it was conducted in two stages, first the Mains round and then the advanced level. I got around 250 in mains and 190 in advanced with an AIR of 2900 in JEE Advanced. I choose Chemical engineering over other IT branches as their is a glut of software engineers in the market and i wanted to solve the energy crisis and improve living standards of the common folk.

Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

Chemical Engineering is a vast discipline. Here one can opt for M.Tech or M.Sc after completion. Courses include core engineering subjects like mass transfer, reaction engineering with focus on industrial topics like safety and scale up operations. Elective are fun too, ranging from humanities, maths to even economics courses too.

Internships Opportunities

Of course being in an IIT has its own perks. Here we have a dedicated placement cell which invites various companies and startups to recruit people from here. Internships can be done in core sectors fetching anywhere from 1.5lakh for two months to a intern in IT firm. The best part of being in an IIT is that you can opt for cross-disciplinary interns in consultancies and finance firms too. The experience is excellent as always.

Placement Experience

5

As mentioned earlier, our placement cell ensured that every last person of our department gets the best opportunities available when it comes to placements. Our department can boast about 100% placement. Companies like Schlumberger, Royal Dutch Shell, CAIRN India give hefty packages even while giving a remote location in India. Consultancies & Finance companies like Morgan Stanley, American Express, Citigroup recruit from all branches and packages are around 40lakh - 12 lakh per annum.

College Events

5

Our college hosts one technical ie. Cognizance, one cultural Sankalp, and one more fest Thomso annually. Even after conducting three fests it conducts one sports fest SANGRAM which is one of its kind. Sponsors are collected for these events and revenues around 40-75 lakhs are generated for few of the above mentioned fests which facilitates our campus to invite famous personalities to perform at our function. The crowd is huge and mesmerizing too.

Fee Structure And Facilities

IIT has a subsidized fee structure around 60 thousand a semester for general category and half of it for SC/ST category. Its the least expensive in comparison to other engineering colleges across India. Although news around is that the fee will rise substantially by the next term but even then, IIT offers MCM or means cum merit scholarships for the needy ones where around 90% of the fee is waived off with the intention that money should never ever stop a deserving candidate from reaching where he/she rightfully belongs.

Fees and Financial Aid

There are wide range of scholarships available in IIT. One of them I mentioned before is the MCM or Means Cum merit scholarship that is given to people have parental annual income less than 4.5 lakh. Here 90% of total fee is subsidized. In addition to it, 5000 rupees per month is given as allowance to the students.

Campus Life

4

Campus is a sprawling one with marvelous seniors who are wiliing to help their juniors anytime. Gender ratio is however poor 1:8, girls: boys ratio but still believe me its better than other IITs. Very diverse culture, people ranging from very different backgrounds come over here. People in addition to academics, also indulge in trekking and camping as roorkee, lying at the foot of the mountains, people go on bike trips to snowy areas. Having a very diverse culture people from various ethnic backgrounds are respected here. Inter IIT competitions are also a norm here like sports meet which is held annually, each time in a different IIT.

Alumni/Alumna

In terms of the alumni network, we do have one, indeed a strong one, but their is no connection between them and the existing students. that are studying here. Nonetheless there is a very strong bond between seniors and their juniors.

Exam Structure

Study schedule depends upon branch to branch and from person to person. It is not possible to give a very exact answer to this one as it depend on the kind of time-table one has and the extra activities one has opted for but nonetheless on an average its a 4-5 hour day with few breaks in between, lab classes twice a week with two sets of exam in each semester( with one semester usually lasting for 5 months).

Faculty

4.5

Faculty at IITR is indeed excellent. Professors here are from a diverse background and have a solid research bend of mind. They give their best shot in lectures as each one of them is a master of his own subject and wants to impart as much knowledge as he can to the upcoming generation.

The curriculum is highly relevant, focusing on practical knowledge for real-world prep, though more hands-on application and updated content would strengthen it. Exams occur 6 times yearly; they are tough but fair for the course.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course because of its affordability and the teaching quality of this college is good . They helps in choosing the real life application based projects . Teaching methods are impressive but they don't provide notes . We have make notes by attending class regularly. Frequency and timings of exams are of 3 hrs. For each subject . Difficulty level is moderate and students can prepare it well in the gap days also .
