IIT JEE, Rank 1310, I wanted to choose Electrical Engineering hence IIT Roorkee. Also, Roorkee is very close to Panipat, which is my hometown.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum was slightly outdated with most of the machines we worked on more than 40 years old. Also, it was more theoretical rather than taking into account the present industry practices. Which is something that can be worked upon and certainly should be worked upon.
Internships Opportunities
Yes, they helped students with Internships during the third year. All the students were not placed through college so the average stipend is a little hard to describe.
Placement Experience
Job opportunities after any IIT are decent for the top 50 percentile. However, the struggle is there for the bottom 50 percentile. Mostly opportunities in Roorkee were restricted to IT though, with not many analytics and consulting firms. But the situation is improving with multiple Ecommerce recruiters etc.
College Events
My college had two main festivals: Thomso the annual cultural festival of IIT Roorkee and Cognizance the annual tech festival of IIT Roorkee. Cognizance is amongst the top two tech fests organized in the country.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The fee structure in IIT is pretty cheap compared to any other engineering college. One can very easily get a loan for the entire amount and if needed then multiple scholarship options were also there.

No, I did not avail any scholarship but yeah there are multiple options that I am not aware of though.
Campus Life
The gender ratio is a little skewed. Sports facilities are just amazing probably the best WRT in a lot of colleges in India. There are mostly all sports ranging from Kho-Kho to swimming, football, Tennis, Carrom, Squash, etc. With proper maintenance and a whole block dedicated to ti.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is not that great. This is something which IIT Roorkee needs to work upon. The students have taken multiple initiatives to improve the same, the situation is improving but certainly, we lack behind other IITs in this respect.
Exam Structure
There are 8 semesters for the B Tech course in general. Each semester consisted of Mid-Term exams followed by End Term exams with sufficient marks allocated to the tutorials and class assignments.
Faculty
The faculty of my college was very good, with most of the teachers having sufficient relevant experience and good qualifications to back-up the responsibilities they were handling. Also, the teaching style was good which varied with each professor though.
