Physics course at Sourashtra College

The Sourashtra College is affiliated with the Madurai Kamaraj University. It is a linguistic minority co-ed institution, re-accredited by NAAC with B+ grade. They work hard to uplift the minority community and give them the education to build a supportive, co-operative and united society.

The course curriculum is based on the CBCS pattern. So we have semester exams twice a year. The physics core gives equal importance to both they and practical papers. The syllabus provides in-depth knowledge about tha basic physics.

The college provides excellent placement opportunities. The report is sent every month to the Director of Collegiate Education. This is because the cell functions under the rules and guidelines of the Tamilnadu Government. They conduct various workshops, seminars, aptitude trainings. They also help the students by providing resources for the job enterprises.

The fee structure differs with aided and self financing courses. The fee for our cours is about ?.2000 per each year of study. The aided courses are governed by the government schemes. So the fees is affordable.

The college provides a wide range of exclusive scholarships. There are dozens of scholarship schemes, endowments and financial assistance. The college provides free bus fee and midday meal to the needy students. It is aided by the alumni.

There are sports and games club, department associations and student welfare clubs to conduct various competitions and events in the college. We celebrate festivals, national days, orientation programs, trainings and workshops, etc.

The college provides separate hostels for both boys and girls. We have room accommodations and mess. The rooms are maintained clean and neat. The food prepared at the mess is monitored by mess council and is healthy.

The SCAANis started in 1995. They stay connected with the students and the college. They organize trainings, free medical camps, donating towards the building of campus infrastructure, midday meals, scholarships, etc. The alumni meet is organized kn October 2nd of every year.

The admission is done only through the online mode. The application form is available in their official website www.sourahstracollege.com . The eligibility for the UG courses is a 35% marks in HSC. The selection is based on merit ranking. Maths paper at HSC is compulsory for B.Sc.,physics.

The faculty of the department are highly qualified. It was started in 1967. There are about 7 faculty members. Capt.T.K.Vishnuram is our HOD. He is specialized in handling nuclear physics, classical & statistical mechanics, electronics, etc.
