My journey with Ayurveda University

The university has is striving for excellence in Indian Ayurveda. This has made students aware of the courses and the history of Ayurveda in India. It is using new scientific technologies for the traditional medicines. The college is leaving no stone upturned in inventing new medicines in the field of Ayurveda.

It is a degree course of 5-1/2 years comprising 1st professional semester of 12 months, 2ne professional semester of 12 months, 3rd professional semester of 12 months and final professional semester of 18 months along with a compulsory rotatory internship of 12 months. The course provided us the insights of History of Ayurveda in India with a special reference to Unani medicine. The basics of surgery was also taught to us which widened into a more comprehensive structure as the course proceeded.

The placement committee of the university closely works with the Central council of Indian Medicine, Center for Research in Indian Systems of Medicine and Central Council of Homeopathy. We intern with them during our compulsory internship period. This gives us the practical exposure to the ongoing research in the field of Indian Ayurveda and Medicines. My batch mates got placed with the research organizations run by the uttarakhand Government who are associated with them on various projects.

The annual fee is INR 1 Lakh. Being the course related to medicine and surgery, I found this fee nominal. This is because the medical courses are usually expensive. This fee included the tuition fee, medical fees, examination fee and miscellaneous fee. I paid the fees online through net banking.

It is a lush green campus situated in the beautiful valley surrounded by the mountains. There are several species of birds that are found in the campus. The university organizes various health camps and medical camps in the campus for outside people. The Anti-Ragging cell is also present in the campus that violates any form of ragging in the campus. The university has a very strong R&D Department which is a very active department of the university. This provides research opportunities to the young scientists. And currently has lot of scholars working under the guides in the department.

With the aim to research in Indian Ayurveda, I decided to take admission in the Ayurveda University. One of the best universities of the country in the field of Ayurveda, the course was open to anyone who have passed 12th grade or intermediate with Physics, Chemistry and Biology with minimum 50% aggregate from state or central board of examination. The candidate must have attained the age of 17 years on or before 31st December of the year in which the admission is taken. I filled the online application form. The list was out and my name appeared in it. After the successful verification of the documents, my seat was reserved and admission was granted.

All the faculty members were well qualified in diverse backgrounds. They were specialized in various disciplines of Ayurveda and medicines. Some of them were even trained yoga professionals. We used to attend yoga classes under their guidance. They taught each and every subject so nicely that every student used to listen them patiently.
