Remarks
Heritage Institute of Technology is the next obvious choice if the scores are not high enough for a public university. It has widely been recognised as the top private college in West Bengal. The campus is sprawling and abuzz with activities as heard from my seniors. The faculty list and qualifications were very good too as is displayed on their website. My reason for opting for Applied Electronics and Instrumentation was the fact i was passionate about electronics since a long time and wanted to pursue it further.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course structure of AEIE is very thorough and detailed. Starting from the very basics,the course delves deeper into the world of Electronics covering all the latest Industry trends like IoT,ML,Big Data,AI etc. The environment is academic and from initial days students are encouraged to go beyond textbooks. A variety of subjects are taught. Equal importance is given to practical as well as theoritical knowledge. Lab facilities are excellent. teachers are always punctual. Very few instances of classes being cancelled. The faculties overall are quite helpful. But two teachers deserve a special mention SJB sir and PPS sir for being excellent mentors and guides.
Placement Experience
Placements are moderately okay. Core companies do not recruit much. Tech giants like TCS,Infosys,Tech Mahindra,Capgemini,Wipro,Amazon are the main recruiters. The teachers readily give LoR to deserving students.
College Events
The campus life is vibrant. There are no instances of ragging on the campus and the seniors were welcoming and loving. There are various clubs like Rotaract,Nss,Drama,photography,fashion,art,music,dance,coding,entrepreneurship clubs which are very active throught the year and host variety of events. The annual cultural Fest is called Eclecia and is one of the biggest in kolkata. The annual tech fest is called Dakksh and sees participation from colleges around the city. Almost all the students participate in something or the other during the fest days. Apart from this various departmental events are held on a regular basis.
Campus Life
The campus is huge and has sprawling lawns and is lined with trees. It has two big playgrounds,a basketball court, carrom room, table tennis rooms,badminton courts. There are separate sports teams for each sport like football,basketball,tennis,cricket etc. sport enthusiasts can find lke minded people easily.The library is exceptionally good with a huge collection of textbooks and journals ranging from mechanics to elecronics and biotechnology. The librarians are exceptionally strict. Labs are clean and well maintained and well equipped. The lab assistants are very helpful to the students.
